Now that AI4 is over, what is your favorite season of AI? I say AI4, there was more talent then ever

SEASON FOUR!! OMG, it can't even compare to the previous three seasons. Of course, I only started really getting into this show this year. I did watch AI3 a lot and some episodes of season 1 and 2, but I don't think it was as diverse and interesting as this season. Yeah, season four all the way.

Season 3 and 4.

I think Season 4 had the MOST talent, but a lot of them went too early and a lot of the contestants were really boring, with the exception of maybe.. Mikalah. However, Season 3, to me, was more appealing, especially since my top 5 actually made the top 5 on the show.

It's between 1 and 2; 3 was definitely the worst.

Season 1 had the best winner but the overall best talent was season 2.

AI2. AI3 had better medleys and themes and I liked how they were younger. AI4 was more talented, but all my favorites dropped like flies.

So AI2 is winning with AI4 second. On IDF it seems everyone thought 1 was ok, 2 was great, 3 was awful, and 4 was great.

So I guess they pretty much agree with everyone here for the most part (for once) :p

here's my "in-depth" opinion. (im bored)

season 1
good
- the kelly clarkson, tamyra gray, and even justin guarini showmanship. i remember that everyone always used to look forward to their performances, and just watching them was fun
- there was more memorable performances.
- kelly winning. that was the MOMENT we'll never forget.

bad
- first off, there was only a top 10
- and 3 of them were completley forgettable. everyone always says the talent was horrible, but the top 7 of that year were actually pretty good. (okay, maybe not ryan. but still.)
- brian dunkleman
- some of the group songs were creative, but as much as i love nikki mckibbin, her voice did not synch well with the others.

season 2
good
- the clay, ruben, kimberley battle. as much as i loved some of the other contestants, watching these three fight it out was intense.
- better group songs. all of their group songs sounded amazing
- more clips to get to know the contestants.
- better ford commercials

bad :
- ruben winning
- the package of dull contestants (ruben, josh, trenyce, rickey, corey.)
- from top 8 (billboard) to top 4 week (excluding top 5 week) were completely lackluster.

season 3
good
- i liked the whole diva thing in the top 4.
- my top 5 made the top 5.
- if i rank all the idols, there would be a good four or five from this season in my top ten. in other words, to this day, i still really admire some of season 3's contestants.
- better group medleys, in terms of a performance.
- more interesting results shows.
- younger people = good.

bad
- i remember there was a good 2-3 week period where jpl, john, and camile all delivered really horrible performances.
- most of the contestants were inconsistent. there was only like 3 awesome weeks. the other weeks were just good.
- the fact that the best singer was the most boring one there.

season 4
good
- the semifinal process with the top 24
- the perfect top 12
- the carrie and bo finale
- i actually liked the themes. they were broader, but very redundant (top 6, and the second half of top 5)
- more memorable performances.
- the fact that it was in high definition this year
- a great top 4
- i think top 11 night remains the best night ever in idol history.

bad
- mario leaving
- the boring group performances
- the boring group of contestants. i think the only one with any life in them was probably mikalah, or even vonzell.
- the fact that alot of my favorites left early (lindsey, mikalah, jessica)
- whenever a week was bad, it was really BAD (top 12, 10, 9, 6, 4 week. ouch)

Ill do mine for Seasons 3 and 4 (thats what I saw, and I recently downloaded the complete 3rd season so now I have a full opinion on season 3)

Season 3
GOOD:
- Diana, Jasmine, Fantasia, George :D
- A lot of the contestants were younger, which I really liked
- I liked all of the themes (excluding Latin Pop. Who the heck came up with that theme?)
- There were a lot of good nights
- There were only 2 or 3 contestants that didnt have much personality. Most had a very unique, fun to watch personality.
- The top 5 and 3 interviews and the top 12 and 11 performance rounds really got you to know the contestants.
- The group medleys were great

BAD:
- A lot of the contestants were very boring, not all, but I could name a good 3 or 4 that had good vocals but their performances were blah
- Everyone had at least 2 bad performances, and most had 3 or 4.
- The constant diva pimping got annoying.
- The outcome :-/
- A few weeks were actually hard to watch because they were so boring (top 11, 10, 9, 6)

Season 4
GOOD:
- The performances were more unique and memorable
- AI4 by far had the most talent
- The semifinal setup was better
- The top 4 was perfect
- Carrie winning :woohoo:
- Everyone wasnt the same, everyone had different genres and styles.
- The stage setup was a lot nicer
- Top 11 Night like David said, is probably the best night in idol history.
- This season probably had the best top 12
- This season's finale was the best IMO, not just cause Carrie won

BAD:
- Not enough hour long results shows
- The interviews should have been in the top 12, not the top 6
- Not enough medleys/upbeat performances
- Two words: Scott Savol
- Some weeks were VERRRY bad

^ I agree with what you said about there not being enough results shows. They had like... only 1 one-hour results show, and it was boring. Season 2 had like four in a row! What happened to those days?!

And with Season 3, I didn't like the whole diva thing. Seriously, was Jennifer's exit THAT surprising? She was in the bottom 2 twice prior to that week. Just because she's a diva doesn't mean she's gauranteed safety. Ah.

Oh yeah Joe and David, that reminds me that one bad thing about season four is that they didn't even have those sit down interviews with Ryan Seacrest! Why did they discontinue that? :(

I know seriously.George was sobbing and I was like ???. Jasmine and Diana came back from previous bad performances, and Fantasia and LaToya were good too. George, I dont know, I guess his fans werent ready to give up on him yet. George was like sobbing and I was like ???.

Everyone on the couch looked like the AI4 people did when Constantine left :rotflmao:

To me, I think it's just a problem with the whole scheduling thing. If you remember, in Season 2, half of their results shows were an hour long, they had lots of interview-shows, and they had 2-hour performance shows the first two top 12 weeks. I think it was because FOX didn't really have good shows. I guess now, FOX is really doing well with their Tuesday/Wednesday shows, resulting in American Idol having to limit themselves to their usual spot.

It was irritating because Top 12 and 11 week were only an hour long. Everything was rushed. On top of that, we had to wait till top 6 week for a lame "about me package", and we had NO specials with Ryan Seacrest interviewing the .. final 5 or final 4 or whatever. Eh. They better do it next year.

I know. Exactly. I think it just proves that a lot of people just... say they're surprised because everyone else is. (Does that make sense?). People don't think about it. It's simple.

A. Fantasia - LaToya - Jennifer.
They split the votes. Simple as that. And on top of that, this week was just more.. good performances from them. It wasn't enough to make people vote like crazy for them.

B. John Stevens.
He was in the bottom 2 last week. Logically enough, when you're in the bottom 2 the week before, instictively, your fans are gonna vote their butts off to keep you in.

C. Jasmine and Diana's redemption
After two weeks of decent performances from them, they came back with amazing performances. Obviously their fans would have the motivation to vote for them. Along with that, they were different that week. It wasn't .. a diva-soul-power-performance, which happened three times that night already.

D. George?
As much as I love George, the only big surprise was the fact that George didn't even land in the bottom 3. I guess it just proves how loyal his fans were at the time, because it was his 2nd week being completely lackluster. But I guess he, John, Jasmine, and Diana all had stable fanbases that week, while the divas SHARED one stable fanbase.
