View Full Version : The Dick Van Dyke Show Revisited
Lolac 09-16-2005, 08:20 AM TV Land is advertising that "The Dick Van Dyke Show Revisited" is on tonight (Friday, 9/16/2005) at 10:00pm EDT. I believe this is the CBS special from which clips are used on the DVD sets. However, on the TVLand online site, their online schedule is calling it "The Dick Van Dyke Reunion Special." If it is the "Revisited" special, then I will watch it, if it is the "reunion," I won't. Once was enough for me on that one. Just thought I'd pass this along to everyone!

SawgrassSteve 09-16-2005, 11:24 AM Yes, I saw that too, Lolac.
It looks to be the "Revisited" one. Here's a cut & paste from Yahoo! TV:

Lolac 09-16-2005, 11:29 AM So it appears that Revisited is the reunion show, which is a ho-hum. What is the name of that CBS special that had Sheldon Leonard, Morey Amsterdam and the others in interviews? I would love to see that in it's entirety! I'll miss the one tonight.

Could you be referring to the 1994 special, "The Dick Van Dyke Show Remembered"?
And did you actually say you're not gonna watch tonight :( ???
Steve
Lolac 09-16-2005, 11:49 AM Yes, Steve, I'm actually NOT going to watch tonight! I didn't like the reunion special. I'm, even as I am typing this, watching "Coast-to-Coast Big Mouth." I prefer my TDVDS in black and white and in the 60's! peacesign:

LOL! Me to. Actually, except for the news, much of my TV viewing is from that era. :so

hrstultz 09-16-2005, 01:43 PM I am so excited to see the show tonight, I have never seen it.
mstewart 09-17-2005, 10:31 AM I watched the revisited show last night and it was good but not the best. It was good seeing the remaining survivors of TDVDS. You can look at Rose Marie and tell she was not well. She was always leaning on something or sitting on the show. Ann Guilbert, Millie Helper, was an underutilized character on the original run of the show. The scenes with her and Mary made good comedy. I like the chemistry between Mary and Ann and they looked like they had fun in those scenes. The friendship of Millie Helper and Laura Petrie should had more storylines with them.
KennedyDean 09-17-2005, 10:55 AM Anyone have a copy of this show that everyone dislikes? I'd like to see it!
Also, Steve, those pictures are HILARIOUS!

KennedyDean.
I wish I'd known you wanted a copy. I don't have mine anymore, because I gave it away. I would gladly have taped it for you, though.
Plus, I'll be in Nashville for a week starting Thursday. My bride and I will be at the Opryland Hotel. I could have even delivered it :dizzy: !
Glad you liked the pics  .

Lolac 11-04-2005, 08:01 PM LOL!!! Are you bidding on it, Steve? I would, but it is an XL. Great shirt!
Lolac
SawgrassSteve 11-04-2005, 10:48 PM I hope this isn't a double responce. It looks like my first one didn't go through.
But, no Lolac, I don't really like that one very much! If you want it in your size, though, you have to contact the seller and let them know before bidding, and wait for a responce, according to the text on the listing.

TV DVD Fan 11-12-2005, 02:17 PM This special reminded me of just how much TDVDS was pure fun with all the musical numbers and such, run just like a short film! Can't wait to finish my collection with the final three seasons.

classictvfan7 01-31-2006, 01:31 PM Am I the only one who was dissapointed with this movie? It was nice seeing the characters again, but I thought the plot etc was just awful.
JudgeGarth 01-31-2006, 07:23 PM No, you're not the only one that was disappointed. Back after it originally aired, there were some contentious arguments on this board both ways. Personally, I thought it was good to see the gang again in an updated setting, but, ... it was far from the best.
MillieHelper 02-16-2006, 09:02 PM I watched it again after not seeing it for a while. It was a pleasant viewing experience. The plot was a little thin, I would have liked to have seen more Ritchie & a deeper explanation of background issues & less of Ray Romano but they only had an hour..
Nate Richie 02-20-2006, 08:40 PM I have a copy of the Dick van Dyke Revisted special from CBS last year....I taped it off of TV when it first aired. I think someone said they wanted to view it. Problem is I only have one VCR right now, so if you want a copy of this you'll have to wait until I get a 2nd VCR then I'll gladly send you a tape of the revisited special.
The part of that special that was strange to me was Ritchie moving BACK into the old Petrie house....and it was still furnished exactly the same way it was in the 60's.
octobereve 02-21-2006, 10:03 PM LOL You are right, Nate Richie. I loved seeing the old living room in color, but it didn't make sense that it would still be furnished like that, especially since Rob and Laura sold the house to other people who then sold it back to Ritchie.
treky 02-22-2006, 04:06 PM yes, that part of the show bothered me too. And I also would have liked it if they showed more of Richie. But, it was still a good show. Does anyone know if they're planning to release it on DVD?
I thought it was great seeing the cast together again, but I didn't care for the plots. There will NEVER be another TDVDS, even with the old cast!
