I always wondered that. I liked the Nick eps way better. Then I noticed they got different voice actors for Doug. The disney one sound like a punk. I just wanted to know why they changed everything about, with clothing styles, schools etc?

Some of that probably was trying to get a different demographic for the
show. The Nick Episodes were geared for pre teens where the disney
episodes took on more "adult" subjects so they had to beef up the voices
etc.

Yuck! :(
The Nick version is waaaaaaaay better premise-wise, but the Disney version had a better-sounding theme music, though.
They made Doug sound even whiner on the Disney version, which irked me a lot.
Yeah I disliked the Disney version they made too many changes to the show. I prefer Nicks' version where it was very entertaining and enjoyable. The Disney version boo and yuck:o

I haven't seen the Disney version of "Doug" in my life. The Nick version was great and the Disney version was way overrated.

Does it ever occur why some people were smoking on something and giving their child a really ********-sounding name like that?

I look at what allowed the hit cartoon "Doug" (https://web.archive.org/web/20061031125223/http://www.jumptheshark.com/d/doug.htm) to move from Nickelodeon to Disney and that brief period when he was one of the Mouse's biggest cash cows.

After 3 years in limbo, Doug (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/WesternAnimation/Doug) entered production again in 1996, as a product of Disney Television Animation, that would air on ABC until 1999. It didn’t do so well. Between the radical changes that added little worldbuilding, and the growing competition from other cartoons about average kids that no one understands, there’s a lot to unpack with Disney’s Brand Spanking New(?) Doug, but is it all terrible news? I don’t think so, to be reasonable.

Did Disney Ruin Doug (https://web.archive.org/web/20140403180532/http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/topic/3118295-doug/?view=getnewpost)? The classic 90s Nickelodeon show, "Doug" premiered in 1991 alongside Rugrats and the Ren & Stimpy Show. Doug was a popular show on the network, and one of my personal favorites! After 4 seasons of Doug on Nickelodeon, it began airing on Disney. But did Disney ruin Doug? In this video, you'll find out if Disney's version of this popular show was a Hit or a Miss!

On September 7, 1996, a continuation of the classic Nicktoon Doug (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doug_(TV_series)) premiered on Disney's Saturday Morning Block called Brand Spanking New Doug or Disney's Doug. Since then, it's regarded as a terrible cartoon and nowhere near as good as the original. Is this true? Well, sit back and relax as we delve over an hour to answering this long debated question.
