View Full Version : Worst Music Artists and Bands - In your own opinion
Shiki Minami 09-15-2005, 05:44 PM I post this one up to find out which of the music artists and bands you dislike or hate. From songs, voice, story/background, personally/attitude, and anything else you can think of. For me its:
Eminem and D12: I NEVER like this music group ever since I totally quit hearing rap music genre. Back in 1993, I like to hear J-pop music just like my mother did. Then after seventeen years, I still like to hear J-pop music, since it's going to be my tweltfth anniversay of my favorite music genre. I hear J-pop and rock n roll music for many hours when I was doing homework or drawing. Since I like J-pop, thank god I rather want to hear Japanese hip-gop groups DA PUMP and m-flo which they are much better than those other hip-hop artists that nobody knows them. Point why I hate Eminem and D12.....is their attitude and songs. I hate their attitude to become so hard headed that I can't stand it I also can't stand their songs like My Band, since this really annoys me so hard. Wah, it's so iritating. I'm wondering how did those kind of artists get so rich?
Ireneparalegal 09-15-2005, 05:47 PM Jennifer Lopez. aka J HO. She thinks she can sing, and because she is recognized as a singer, she is the one I would like to say I DON'T LIKE HER. Thanx to all the wizardry of music studios, they can make her sound like she sings good, when in fact she can't.
The Chauffeur 09-15-2005, 05:52 PM I think just about anything since the change of the millenium has pretty much sucked me dry. Just pointless and bland
Shiki Minami 09-15-2005, 06:01 PM Many of the rap artists are always never seem particulary that good after all to me, because the fans sometimes think rap is dying or something else I can't think anything else. As with many reviewers in Amazon gave most of the negative reviews on one of the rap music albums. For example, Eminem - Encore. Just to see how disapointingly I've wasted my valuable time when I was working on something and it suddenly it made my mind feel a pain. I least I hear a lot of J-pop and rock n roll music to enjoy, while rap is really a waste of time, attitude, and energy as I type this.
Steve M. 09-15-2005, 06:09 PM That's easy - worst solo acts include Madonna, Michael Bolton, Celine Dion, and all rap performers.
Worst bands - Slaughter, Kansas, Duran Duran, the Knack, America, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Journey.
Plus a few others I can't think of right now.
:barf:

Madonna and Celine suck, but J. Lo is good? I mean, seriously?
by typing Journey, I know one person you just evoked the wrath of
Dean Winchester 09-15-2005, 06:22 PM J. Lo (I don't know anybody who outsucks her, literally and figuratively, lol), Britney, any of the American Idol winners besides Kelly Clarkson and I guess Carrie is okay too, Eminem, Vanilla Ice, Diddy (or whatever his name is now), Backstreet Boys, REO Speedwagon (but I do like "Keep On Lovin' You"), Nickelback, Grateful Dead (but I do like "Touch Of Grey" and "Shakedown Street"), Dave Matthews (I do enjoy the Dream Girl video for Julia Roberts though), R. Kelly and who knows who else
David 09-15-2005, 07:00 PM Eminem and his D12 whatever band
Shiki Minami 09-15-2005, 07:02 PM Theres one thing I forgot about rap was Lil Flip. Since I hear his song title "Game Over," I cannot hate him completely. He is my least favorite artist. The reason why I hear Game Over is that I was interest to sing it. Since it has Pacman video game sound beats, that's the reason why I like to sing this song title. It's the only rap song I like to sing.
ABlairican Pie 09-15-2005, 07:19 PM Slipknot and Limp Bizkit stick out in my mind.
Shiki Minami 09-15-2005, 07:22 PM Duran Duran isn't that bad. I mean that Duran Duran were one of the traditional rock n roll bands I hear when I had the album, Astronaut. When I hear this more often, it turned out to be my favorite.

well, Duran Duran is the epitome of a "image band" from the 80's, that's probably the reason some hate them so much. They're not one of my favorites but I'd lie if I said they didn't have songs that I love
ashlee simpson-gosh shes awful
jessica simpson-shes even worse
britney spears and jlo
The Chauffeur 09-15-2005, 11:55 PM Duran Duran????!!???......I am crushed
Nighthawk76 09-16-2005, 12:25 AM Kiss, Queen, Poison, Billy Joel, Britney Spears, Barry Manilow, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Celine Dion to name a few.
snl 70s show fan 09-16-2005, 02:38 AM tears for fears back in the 80s when everybody was falling all over themselves about how great they were i couldnt stand them and 20 years later i still cant.
Shiki Minami 09-17-2005, 04:05 PM That's easy - worst solo acts include Madonna, Michael Bolton, Celine Dion, and all rap performers.Steve M. and I agree all of the rap performers are the worst artists and music genre. But some of the pop music artists isn't bad after all.

Oh Buffy I'm sure Steve M wrote that as a typo! Right Steve? :lookaroun
Steve M. 09-17-2005, 08:54 PM The Grateful Dead
The Dead have long been hated by folks whio think you can only appreciate their music when you're stoned. Otherwise, as one critic said, it's just "solo, solo, solo, solo, solo, solo, solo, solo, solo, solo, solo, solo, solo, puff, snort, solo, solo, solo."
Steve M. 09-17-2005, 08:56 PM Oh Buffy I'm sure Steve M wrote that as a typo! Right Steve? :lookaroun
I'm sorry, Jrnygrl, but I always found Journey to be the very definition of soulless corporate rock and roll. Please forgive me.
They are better than Hootie and the Blowfish, though.
Steve M. 09-17-2005, 08:59 PM Madonna and Celine suck, but J. Lo is good? I mean, seriously?
Did I say J. Lo was good? I don't think so. But I never thought she was horrendous enough to hate. Though, to be honest, I've only heard a fragment of one of her songs. That's my "J. Lo the pop star" experience in a nutshell.
Literally.

Hey Steve I didn't take it serious. I know everyone has their like and dislikes when it comes to bands, Journey is my guilty pleasure. What can I say! I think we agree on other types of music and opinions on music for the most part. :D
Steve M. 09-17-2005, 09:15 PM Thanks, Jrnygrl. :)

A fragment of one of JHo (no that is no typo) songs is probably the fragments of alot of real singers songs...

true, it's common knowledge that J. Lo "ghost" sang 70% of the female vocals on Ain't It Funny, which was one of her biggest hits. Ashanti really sang the chorus and some of the verses but yet was paid to hush up while J. Lo took the credit (Ashanti hadn't quite established herself at this point). She also ghosted on quite a bit of "Play" as well while Christina Milian (who also hadn't yet established herself) sang most of the song.
J. Lo even makes Britney Spears look like Annie Lennox.

Whoa, I had heard something like that, but wasn't sure. I knew she didn't really sing, but to have singers who eventually made it in this biz, I can't believe they didn't come out by now. Back in the days Paula Abdul was accused of the same thing. That girl singer who sued was a former member of Mary Jane Girls. Paula won her case. What you just posted reminded me of that.
Jho is a big phony. I give her credit for her dancing and acting, she worked to get to that point. She has no voice, or singing talent, and I am not sorry. She also needs to get her act together abt selling a fashion line that uses fur. She is contributing to the killing of innocent animals.
I hate people who use studio mechanics to make them sound like they have this phenomenal voice. I bet if she sung acapella, then people would realize they have been duped.

I know Christina Milian came out about "Play", I'm not sure if Ashanti did or not about Ain't It Funny but most people know it by now so she probably has.
Ireneparalegal 09-17-2005, 10:32 PM you know, whenever anything abt JHo comes on the television or radio, I immediately change the channel cuz I can't stand to see her. That's probably why I don't know the info you just posted. I am serious. Whenever that chick is within my vision or hearing...BLAM!!!!! She's gone. LOL

Actually, lol I loved the Dead! They touched on a lot of bluegrass, which is something I was raised on ( and no I wasn't raised under a tin roof  )

Well of course Ashlee Simpson. Did you see her performance at halftime, after SNL, at the college football chmpionship game. F***in great. She decided not to lip sinc at her own peril, and was booed off the field.
All boy bands!
Dean Winchester 09-18-2005, 01:42 PM everyone bashes Ashlee but to be honest, I liked Pieces Of Me more than anything Jessica recorded. I'd never buy or download her stuff, but I'd say she's better than her sister as I've NEVER liked any of Jessica's music (yet I can name songs by Britney and Christina I actually have liked)

Can you think of anyone who would have done a better job(currently - not ever) on the song "Beautiful" then Christina? I can't.

Beautiful's one of the three or four Christina songs I was referring to. Don't take offense, all I was saying is that while there have been Britney and Christina songs I could tolerate (I never heard enough Mandy Moore to judge), I have never heard one song by Jessica Simpson that I liked one bit, and yet I liked "Pieces Of Me" somewhat, definately more than anything her sister's done. I've thought all of Jessica's covers were inferior to the originals, and the only thing that saved I Think I'm In Love With You was the Mellencamp sample.
AllIWantIsYourClutch 09-18-2005, 04:29 PM I HATE Dave Matthews. Which is like a sin in my school and I might as well fall off the earth....but I can't staaaaaamd him.

Your not alone, I don't get the Dave Matthews thing either. Also John Mayer, both to me are overrated. JMO!!!!
Dean Winchester 09-18-2005, 04:37 PM DMB is proof about burnout. DMB and Hootie And The Blowfish came out the same time, playing the same music to the same audience, but Hootie exploded in popularity in 95 and sold over 10 million by years end, while Dave Matthews did well, but more of a modest success. Yet DMB are still a major recording act ten years later while Hootie have been dropped from the majors and record on an indie label and the chance of any comeback is next to nothing.

None taken. The "Beautiful" reference was to show that there was a Christina track that I liked too.:)
Shiki Minami 09-18-2005, 06:59 PM Eminem, Britney Spears, Ashlee SimpsonMaroon5'd and I agree Eminem is a worst music artist like I said it already. I don't hear Britney Spears that much, but I would perfer that I never wanted to her albums anymore. Ashlee Simpson, I don't know. I need to know more about her.
Karen* 09-19-2005, 11:35 PM Why does everyone hate Eminem? I think he's more of the more honest rappers out there today. Some of his songs are meant to be stupid and funny, but he's made some songs that some people can actually emotionally connect with, compared to other rappers who only rap about sex, drugs, money, and violence.

I personally don't like him because he can dish it out, but he can't take it. Like Wierd Al wanted to cover one of his songs, he through a fit and wanted to oversee the whole process. At least Wierd Al was nice enough to aproach him first.

exactly, Eminem can dish it, but when someone throws it back at him, he sees fit to maliciously destroy their careers, remember Moby?

What did Moby exactly do to him? cause what I saw him say was that he respected him for using his artistic freedom, though he didn't agree with what he said. What's wrong with that? Did I miss something?

Moby basically said he doesn't agree with lyrics that reek of homophobia and mysogyny, and for that, Eminem unleashed his wrath upon him. I'm not a big Moby fan, but for the love of God.... At least Moby is a more adventurous artist, and the real kick in the groin was the "nobody listens to techno" line... F-you Moby. I have more techno cd's than I do rap!!

Figures. J/K. :p
This should probably go into the Reality Shows board and I'm sorry if I offend anyone with what I'm about to say, but my dad thinks that there is a racial motivation in American Idol, that the producers shine some good light on the pretty white girls so the people can vote for them. When I brought up that Ruben (The only male winner so far) and Fantasia were winners, both of whom are African-American, my dad responded "Yeah, that's just to give the show some diversity but where are they now?" And that got me thinking...WHY aren't Ruben and Fantasia as successful as Kelly and Carrie? Why haven't Kelly and Carrie ever landed in the bottom three (I haven't seen season one, so I can't comment on Kelly but IMO, Carrie had her bad weeks and should've at least made the bottom three...her huge fanbase had always kept her in)?
I don't believe what my dad is saying cuz he's wack sometimes anyway, but it did get me thinking and maybe it'll give you guys something to think about too. I did notice that Kelly and Carrie have more fans than Ruben and Fantasia. A lot of people really seem to hate those last two that I mentioned.
