I think that's one of the reasons why it never aired on any cable network. Buffyboy323 01-29-2006, 08:22 AM I miss it alot. I used to watch it every weeknight WWOR/UPN at 1:30am...Loved it... "Were there any Sexual Problems?" haha. She rocked. Buffyboy323 01-29-2006, 08:32 AM I really miss Dear John...I miss that Catchy Opening Theme Song, lol.....It's a really funny show....I used to watch it in the mid-late 90s every single weeknight on my WWOR/UPN at 1:30am...."Were there any sexual problems?"..Haha. she Rocked! Scoobiedoo30 01-29-2006, 03:35 PM I sure wish that some Station would get The Local Right's to Dear John again. slumgullian 04-03-2006, 05:46 PM Do you know how I can get all of the Dear John sitcoms on dvd or vhs? damin mance 07-04-2014, 08:54 PM this used to come on late at night on ch 11 wpix and when they stop showing it I got really mad because it help me sleep Ryan Chamberlain 08-28-2014, 04:56 PM We'll no longer have to miss it come next year! Antenna TV picked it up!!! I am so thrilled! So very very thrilled! Flying Dutchman 12-03-2014, 09:54 PM I just miss Judd Hirsch period. cleverfun3000 12-04-2014, 07:08 PM i love it when it comes on and they play the theme music:D http://i.imgur.com/zx2yUKr.gif (http://lunapic.com>) tlc38tlc38 12-07-2014, 12:58 PM I've never seen this show before. Hopefully I'll have access to AntennaTV before it starts airing. HuntingtonM15 12-07-2014, 04:26 PM It's been so long since I've seen this show, so it will be great to be able to see it again! I also agree that it has an excellent theme song. Mace Dolex 12-08-2014, 02:17 PM This show was pretty unpopular in the early 90s on NBC. I think that's one of the reasons why it never aired on any cable network. Totally forgot this was on NBC, what with a mostly all adult cast I thought this was on CBS since they were known as the "old farts" network at the time. Yong Fang 12-24-2014, 12:58 PM I loved the theme song too. This is one of those shows that is on for several years, had OK to decent ratings, but nothing's spectacular, and then was more or less forgotten about. Becker is another show like this. Has any of the other cast members been in anything else? I have not seen an episode in what, 20 years, but I remember the British lady, the annoying ladies man guy and a nerd with glasses, and a hot woman (who was Judd Hirsch's love interest). They were in some self help group of something. Like I said, not a bad show perse, but just something that was watched in the 1990s that has been lost in a shuffle. Mr. Television 12-24-2014, 01:23 PM This is a very underrated show. It's great that it's back on tv. Yong Fang 12-25-2014, 12:36 AM Shows like this makes me wish that I lived in New York City doing a job, wearing natty clothes, having Seinfeld like friends, and listening to Simon and Garfunkel in the park with the freaks. Oh my my. DJM77 12-25-2014, 01:07 AM Has any of the other cast members been in anything else? I've seen Jere Burns (Kirk) in some other things since then, but I think Dear John was the last I've seen of the other cast members aside from Judd Hirsch. Mr. Television 12-25-2014, 06:59 AM I've seen Jere Burns (Kirk) in some other things since then, but I think Dear John was the last I've seen of the other cast members aside from Judd Hirsch. Harry Groener was in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Ryan Chamberlain 01-14-2016, 05:53 AM Been watching every single morning at 4/4:30. I forgot how great this show was. And, I appreciate it so much more watching it the age I am now. I didn't get a lot of the jokes when I was younger. My faves haven't changed either. Kirk and Ralph were the funniest..hands down. Followed by Mrs. Philbert. I still hate the last season because of them ditching Ralph. It didn't work anymore when that happened. Crusinforabrusin 01-18-2016, 06:17 PM I sure do miss this show! I'm glad I can rewatch it on Antenna Tv and on DVD! Judd Hirsch was good in the show! On Taxi too. MRPITT 01-19-2016, 01:05 PM Until recently I missed it a lot. I got a set 5-6 years ago, but the quality was so bad I couldnt even watch it. Thankfully its been on a little since then. Just in the last month I have been able to complete the series in high quality. John was my favorite actor, but Kirk cracked me up. WatcherofOldTV 02-27-2016, 12:43 AM It was a modest success and always on at 9:30 which was the perfect time slot for it. (Due to its low-key, soft intro and depressed, yet colorful, interesting characters.) Judd Hirsch was very underrated but the British woman was the one who really stole the show. The two of them made it work. Having the silent guy in the back was an important and intelligent touch as well. rusty spike 02-28-2016, 06:36 AM Ugh, I don't get Antennae, but I saw a lot of the show when it first debuted. It was a very funny show with terrific characters. king of comedy 02-28-2016, 08:30 AM Harry Groener was in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Don't forget he did Broadway. RustyNailForever 03-14-2016, 04:26 PM I think of Dear John as somebody's idea of another version of Taxi, with Judd Hirsch as the reasonable character who must act as a sounding board for all of the eccentric characters around him. I don't understand why the group is called the 1-2-1 club when it is a group session, or what Louise's qualifications are to lead it, but if I watch enough episodes on METV, maybe I'll figure it out. I never liked the Kirk character, and I can say as someone who lived some of the worst years of my life in Rego Park that there is no Rego Park Community Center. My favorite episode is "Louise the hero," in which the community center is going to close without an influx of cash and Louise says she knows someone who'll put up the money. Then the group discovers she was hospitalized for manic depression after her crazy scheme to get Queen Elizabeth to stop her from being divorced fell through, and that she plans to get the money to save the center from Mischa the Munchkin and Natasha the tatooed lady. '80sSitcoms 03-15-2016, 08:23 AM I don't understand why the group is called the 1-2-1 club when it is a group session I think the numbers are a reference to the members' stations in life as first a single person (1), then one half of a couple (2), then single again after being widowed or divorced (1). So, "1-2-1". or what Louise's qualifications are to lead it I think she probably doesn't have "certified qualifications", but she is a person who is very organized and structured and wanted to found such a group, so she did. Jamey Greek 09-19-2016, 10:32 PM I sure wish it would come to DVD while we still have Judd Hirsh to share his memories...its too sad that Billie Bird isn't here to do hers, but she lived a nice long life.. And Jere Burns Miss it totally :( |
