does anyone remember that story about the braind-dead woman being kept a live in order for her unborn child to live. Well, the baby died after only 5 weeks :( man, that's just....sad

Family: Baby Born To Mom On Life Support Dies

McLEAN, Va. -- A baby born last month to an unconscious, severely brain-damaged northern Virginia woman on life support, has died at the age of five weeks.
The Torres family said in a statement Monday that Susan Anne Catherine Torres died of heart failure Sunday night after emergency surgery to repair a perforated intestine.
The family said that Susan's condition had deteriorated rapidly over the weekend.
Susan Torres, a researcher at the National Institutes of Health, lost consciousness from a stroke on May 7. Aggressive melanoma had spread to her brain, doctors said.
The baby was born Aug. 2 by Caesarean section at 27 weeks' gestation. She weighed just under 2 pounds and is 13.5 inches long.
The mother died shortly after her daughter's birth when she was taken off life support.
