Did his character on this show OUTSHINE Ricky Schroder's? What was so entertaining about his character to get his own show from being on Silver Spoons?

His character definitely outshined Schroeder's. It was a role that Bateman was destined to play.

So was his character on Silver Spoons similar to his character on It's Your Move?

Yes indeed.
In "It's your move" he played the character Matthew and he was a cunning little nag who enjoyed to play pranks on people.Basically the same character like Derek just a bit older (14-15).

And on It's Your Move he was trying to play pranks on his step dad who was a older version of him-lol

I don't think it was his step dad. On It's Your Move, Matthew lived with his sister and mom. Norman was the guy who lived in the apartment across the hall.

Norman wasn't a guy who lived across the hall, he was in a serious relationship with Matthew's mom which made him his step Dad

Sorry Solomon...not to nit-pick but I disagree.

The series began with Norman as the guy across the hall...Matthew's nemesis, if you will. He did go on to be in a relationship with Matthew's mom but I don't recall them ever getting married...hence, not a step-father.

How about we meet in the middle at "mom's boyfriend?"
