View Full Version : Invisible Touch (Genesis) vs. No Jacket Required (Phil Collins)
Nighthawk76 09-11-2005, 08:40 PM Since both Genesis and Phil Collins solo have been the topic of some conversation of late I thought I would create a poll between Genesis's biggest selling album (Invisible Touch) and Phil Collins' most popualr solo album (No Jacket Required).
For me it is Invisible Touch without a doubt. Though many complain that this album was way too commercial with songs like the title track, "In Too Deep" and "Throwing It All Away" being made with radio in mind. I still think it is a collection of strong songs where as No Jacket Required featured some of Phil's worst pre-Tarzan songs.

Dean Winchester 09-11-2005, 09:58 PM Invisible Touch. I like No Jacket Required too, but IT was the better album IMO.

There is no analog copy of No Jacket Required?
Good thing Duke was recorded and released in analog originally. That one is Genesis' best album to me.
What do you think is Genesis' best album?
Zoneboy 07-08-2014, 12:15 AM Invisible Touch, No Jacket Required is automatically disqualified because of "Sussudio." puke:
Dude111 07-08-2014, 01:55 AM First I got a cassette of INVISIBLE TOUCH @ salvation army and then a couple months later I got the record :) (No jacket, just a sleeve)

To each his own. I like "Sussudio".

That's fine if you do but I think it's the one of the worst songs he ever recorded. I also despise "In the Air Tonight" and "I Don't Care Anymore" which are just about the only solo songs of his our pathetic excuse for a classic rock station will play around here.
UMFaninMD 07-08-2014, 08:41 PM Invisible Touch. Land of Confusion is still a great political song with a message but my favorite track from the album is Tonight, Tonight, Tonight followed by the title song.
No Jacket Required isn't that bad. I still remember riding with my mom in her yellow VW Bug with the top down singing "Sussudio" at the top of my lungs. I was also nine at the time too. :D Now it is a bit irritating.
His worst stuff for me is when he started doing those Disney songs, although his cover of True Colors is decent.
MrCleveland 07-31-2014, 12:50 PM I like both, but "Invisible Touch" has my vote because of this song...

Though I like The Reagan/Thatcher/Gorbachav/John Paul II Years...this video is art...and the last hurrah for Genesis being a Progressive Pop Band..."We Can't Dance" is more pop and less prog.
Nighthawk76 08-08-2014, 03:47 AM I made this thread nine years ago and I'd have to say that in 2014 I prefer No Jacket Required over Invisible Touch. Infact, I now rank Invisible Touch as one of my least favorite Genesis albums where as No Jacket is one of Phil's best solo albums.
irehtman 08-13-2014, 07:43 AM Invisible touch is best album, but the only song that I like the most from the No jacket Required album is "In the Air tonight".
Dude111 08-14-2014, 10:10 AM 'In the air tonight' is on "FACE VALUE" buddy not "No jacket required"
Ah man!!
