I know the show was taped on a stage. But in the open there is a house that they show. Where is this house at? Is it still around.

Just wandering.

The house was just an ordinary house on the Universal Studios back lot. It is still around and is now painted light blue.

To see pix of the old house, and the house today, go to classictvhits.com/munsters (http://classictvhits.com/munsters), and themunsterstoday.tk (http://themunsterstoday.tk/).

I really don't like the house thats gonna be used for the 2006 film. It just... doesn't look like "The Munsters" it looks more Addams Family to me. I have a special place in my heart for the orginal house lol!

As I watched the season premiere for Desperate Housewives, I noticed they remodeled the munsters house. They basically took away it's Munster glory. Its a shame, yes, but that's hollywood!

Yep, the strange mother and son new to Wisteria Lane live in the Munster house. Who are they hiding in the dungeon? :eek4:

Well, you notice how the young son said, "I lost my father, too". And later the mother said, "Why did you say that?" Well, I think they mean he IS around, but he is locked up in the basement.

It could be the father... but could that be TOO easy?

I have a feeling it is the father, but we'll have to wait till next Sunday for more info.

When I went to Universal Studios this summer in June, the top part of the house was taken off for renovation, I guess. I think the picture Irresistible posted it what the house looks like right now. I'll try to post the pics when I get some time.

OoOh I'd like to see those! I went in 2004 to Universal. The house is so much smaller than what you expect. The backlot tour is the most interesting and fun thing they have there.

Don't wander off.

Although many seem to think the two terms are interchangeable, film and tape are two different things. The Munsters was filmed not taped.

They ruined the Munster house by removing the 3rd story. I wish they would return it to it's former self. It doesn't look good as a two story house, it should be 3 stories high. Next page has updated house pics of both.

When I took the Universal tour in the 90's the house was still recognizable as the Munster house.

Those a-holes ruined it.

the house was built for the 1946 movie So Goes My Love.

I noticed the house in the movie Send Me No Flowers the other night with Doris Day and Rock Hudson. The lived on Wisteria Lane. Fun to see it in color from the early 60's.
