View Full Version : Post your all-time favorite episode here TJ 03-02-2000, 01:09 AM What is your all-time favorite episode of The Partridge Family and why? lauren 07-01-2000, 11:56 PM Any episode that featured David Cassidy for more than 5 minutes is my favorite!!!!!!!!! That man was and still is absolutely gorgeous, and his talent could only be improved if he used it to sing song's to the glory of God. He's a babe through and through. smodolo 07-22-2000, 07:14 PM Prob "Promise her anything.......but give her a punch" - the one where Danny fell for Gloria but Gloria thought Keith was in love with her. I loved the last part where the family sang to Gloria's girl scout troop and when Keith got ready to sign autographs, the all girls ran to Danny and Laurie came up to him and said, "Nobody wants an autograph from a homewrecker." Richard 12-13-2000, 01:05 PM I liked the one where Kieth is pursued by girls,is pursuing a girl who isn't interested in him-and is largely ignoring a girl who does like him.He does realize in the end who his real friend is...and the song,"Somebody Wants To Love You,"is played. I can relate to this in more ways than one. The T 12-13-2000, 03:13 PM I don't particuarly like the show but I would have to say I liked the ep with Jodie Foster...since I am a huge jodie fan. But that's the only ep I would even consider watching twice. ------------------ See ya~The T *^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^* Jo: Well I'm startin. Nat: Where'd ya get the beer? Jo: I got the beer. Here's to all who wish me well, all the rest can go to.......Jersey. ^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^ Michael Lawrence Gelbwaks 01-24-2001, 12:53 PM My favorite episode is "What? And Get Out Of Showbusiness?". It shows the Partridges rise to fame as a musical group. Johnny Cash makes a cameo at the beginning when he says "Ladies and gentlemen, The Partridge Family." The opening credits were good in that pilot, before Sandy Dvore used the traditional one you see in the rest of the 1st season. He changed Jeremy to Brian in the opening credits in the second season. Waginator 01-26-2001, 02:46 PM My favorite is the Pilot, I think, where they convince Mom to sing, Danny negotiates for the bus, and they paint it. And they sing "together- having a ball" on stage. My 2nd favorite episode is where Danny starts auctioning off all of Keiths personal belongings, and they wind up singing on the bus. They sing "24 Hours a day", of which I have the 45 on the Bell label. tj26 02-01-2001, 03:39 PM Alot of the episodes are cute but I like the one also when Danny actions off Keith belongings including his half eaten pickle. I also like the one from the last season when Laurie pretends to be Keith date at a party so he can make another girl jealous. She dresses up like a southern belle. Cokies 02-10-2001, 07:50 PM The one where they sing the 'Whale Song'. That one is so cheesy, beyond chessy! johnnyboy1962 03-26-2001, 04:05 PM i loved the one where danny falls for the jewish girl and pretends to be so. priceless ! Brian S 04-08-2001, 06:51 PM There was a show where Keith was having a difficult period where he couldn't write any songs. The group needed songs to record but were unable to do so because they needed original songs. One night Keith stayed up all night and completed several songs and he finally broke his creative slump. Danny was sleeping and thruout the night he was unconsciously listening and committing the music Keith was playing to his memory. When Danny woke up the next morning, while Keith slept late, Danny played the music that came into his mind overnight to the band. Danny was the hero for "writing" the new song for the band. Keith listened to the song and accused Danny of stealing his song. julian bozo 08-12-2001, 09:36 PM I love the episode where they get started the 1st one. I like it because I like the songs they sing. Also when they get stage fright. That is so funny. Jane 09-20-2001, 09:27 PM My favorite episode: 16-1/2. Why: Reuben wearing a fairy outfit, Shirley dancing with hedge trimmers, Laurie imitating Cleopatra and a sopping wet Keith jumping in a sprinkler while wearing a stretchy leotard...what more could you want in a sitcom? http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif Jane Atl 1996 10-07-2001, 09:13 PM Without a doubt, the episode that introduced Bobby Sherman and Wes Stern (whatever happened to Wes Stern anyway?!?!) as Shirley Partridge's next door neighbors----which that episode spun off into Bobby and Wes's series "Getting Together". Everyone in my junior high was crazy for Bobby, I was out in left field and just went gaga over Wes's goofy looks!!! TV Guy 10-08-2001, 12:57 PM I like the ones from the first season when the Partridges are on the road touring (the skunk one, for instance). They don't tour as much in the later seasons, and the show becomes more of a typical sitcom. Atl 1996 10-08-2001, 04:56 PM Reposting this as it did not show up....the one with Bobby Sherman and Wes Stern as Shirley's neighbors who were struggling songwriters. That episode ended up being spun off into Bobby's series Getting Together. Someone earlier mentioned the Whale Song....why was it never released as a single or on an album? I could never figure out why. I have it on tape in my cassette collection (I also think there were several other songs that were tv-only and never released on album or single format, but can't recall offhand which ones). mamamiasweetpeaches 01-30-2002, 01:20 PM The first episode was the best. The funniest scene I ever saw on Partridge Family was Danny playing a tape recorder in the Mens Room while Mr. Kinkade was going to the bathroom!!!I crack up just thinking about it. JethroSimpson 02-28-2002, 06:20 PM I like the one were Keith and Danny are both after Mary Ann Mobley at the amusment park. The first one is also billiant. darryl 03-10-2002, 08:26 PM some of my fave episodes are... season one- #6 (Love At First Slight) #8 (But The Memory Lingers On) #18 (Soul Club) #24 (A Partridge By Any Other Name) season two- #27 (In 25 Words Or Less) #32 (Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Partridge) #34 (A Tale Of Two Hamsters) #36 (I Can Get It For You Retail) ok most of season two season three- #51 (M Is For The Many Things) #53 (Each Dawn I Diet) #58 (Swiss Family Partridge) #65 (Trial Of Partridge One) #69 (Everything You Wanted To Know About Sex...but Couldn't Pronounce) season four- #79 (reuben Kincaid Lives) #93 (Keith And Lauriebelle) richheart 09-25-2002, 03:27 AM I like the one where Keith is dating a women's liberation activist. She asks them to play at their rally in the park, then tries to stop when she finds out it's a love song. He does it anyway, "I think I Love You." The WHALE SONG was cool. It scared me as a kid though. If you want to hear a cool song using whales, there's one on the greatest hits of Judy Collins. I think this song inspired the PF song. Sal 09-26-2002, 05:40 PM This was my favorite show as a child and I had to wait more than 25 years before it was shown again. When that happened I coudn't wait to watch and tape my favorite episodes. For those of you in Canada, you can now see it again on MUCHMOREMUSIC weekends at 10:00 am and 5:00 pm, immediately followed by another great show, "The Monkees". Here are my favorite episodes: WHAT? AND GET OUT OF SHOW BUSINESS? (Sept. 25, 1970) The pilot episode, where the family decide to become performers. THE SOUND OF MONEY (Oct. 2, 1970) Guest stars: Harry Morgan ("MASH") and Farrah Fawcett ("Charlie's Angel"). The family is slapped with a $500,000 lawsuit following a routine traffic accident. Harry Morgan was never this funny on "MASH" and Farrah's mere presence here, years before she hit stardom, is a huge bonus! SEE HERE, PRIVATE PARTRIDGE (Oct. 16, 1970) Danny is mistakenly inducted into the Army. DANNY AND THE MOB (Nov. 6, 1970) Guest stars: Pat Harrington Jr. ("One Day At A Time") and Vic Tayback ("Alice"). Danny becomes involved with a mobster's fiancee. OLD SCRAPMOUTH (Jan. 15, 1971) Guest star: Mark Hamill ("Star Wars") Laurie is ashamed of her new braces and refuses to open her mouth. A must-see for all "Star Wars" fans! A PARTRIDGE BY ANY OTHER NAME (March 12, 1971) Danny insists that he is adopted. This episode features one of my favorite PF songs "Doesn't Somebody Want To Be Wanted?". A KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOUR (March 19, 1971) Guest Star: Bobby Sherman My favorite episode, with Bobby Sherman as a struggling songwriter. This episode perfectly captures the times of the early 1970s when Bobby Sherman and David Cassidy would compete amongst themselves and with Donny Osmond for the attention of their teenage and pre-teen fans in the requisite teen magazines of the day----and I loved it!!! HOME IS WHERE THE HEART WAS (June 7, 1970) Chris and Tracy decide to run away from home together and end up at Reuben Kincaid's house. Surprisingly, this is the only episode in the series where Chris and Tracy became the focus of the plot and weren't just required to sit around and look cute, and I thought they did a good job here. PROMISE HER ANYTHING BUT GIVE HER A PUNCH (Feb. 18, 1972) Danny's first crush is on a girl who likes to show her affection by punching him in the arm. THE PRINCESS AND THE PARTRIDGE (Sept. 29, 1972) Keith desperately looks to share private time with a visiting princess. A LIKELY CANDIDATE (Nov. 3, 1972) Guest star: Bert Convy Shirley falls for a political candidate whose beliefs are opposite from her own. I miss Bert Convy! I loved watching him on "Tattletales". That was a great game show. So was "Win, Lose, Or Draw", which he also hosted. I LEFT MY HEART IN CINCINNATI (Jan. 26, 1973) Guest stars: Mary Ann Mobley and Johnny Bench Keith and Danny compete for the attention of an attractive older woman at an amusement park. This episode was filmed at King's Island Amusement Park in Cincinnati which was in its first year of operation. By coincidence, "The Brady Bunch" also filmed an episode there during the same season and, from what I've read, the Brady kids almost got killed in the process. THE 11 YEAR ITCH (Feb. 2, 1973) Guest stars: Bert Convy and Jodie Foster Danny falls for the daughter of his mother's boyfriend, but she only likes Keith. A great episode with many historical pop culture overtones. HATE THY NEIGHBOR (Sept. 15, 1973) The family is puzzled by the attitude shown by their new neighbor. This marks the series debut of 4-year-old Ricky Segall, who saves his best performance for the PF concert later on in the show. Even better, this episode also features Ronne Troup (Polly Douglas on "My Three Sons") as Ricky's older sister. Mysty Eyes 09-28-2002, 12:53 AM Episode Number18 Soul Club Guest starring: Richard Pryor and Louis Gossett, Jr. Where the Partridges are booked in Detroit, at "The Fire House," a ghetto location which showcased black entertainment. Oops! The Partridges end up helping the owners (Pryor and Gossett) make the final payment to have complete ownership. This episode has always stood out in my mind, perhaps because it was a little different, and quite possibly because it included the song "Bandala," which I love! jdthedj 05-23-2003, 12:43 AM Another vote for "Promise Her Anything But Give Her A Punch." I was going through a similar 10-year-old puppy love at the time, and I just plain related to the episode (no, I had no older brother to steal her, but like Danny buying all those Girl Scout cookies, I would have done ANYTHING for her!). A close second would be the one with Jodie Foster as Julie Lawrence (and Bert Convy as her dad), for similar reasons. susandm 09-05-2003, 11:50 PM I liked the one where they went to Kings Island and the Gloria Hickey episode. The one where Snake (played by Rob Reiner) a biker falls in love with Laurie. Also liked the one where Keith moves out and Danny sneaks him over food. AB 02-28-2007, 06:12 PM One of my favorites is when Danny cuts some of Keiths hair to sell. And another one is when one of the mobsters threatens Dannys duck float. Keith was my favorite Partridge but Danny was the funniest. |
