It is sort of like the first season of The Facts of Life. Instead of too many students we just have wayyy too many mods. :lol: What is the deal with that?

Well, half of the mods just moderate to feel important, on this board, moderating doesnt mean controlling a board it means being superior to people.

There are moderators that take their mod jobs seriously and for that I am grateful. I have also noticed that some are teens. Anyone else notice that?

I think the moderators we have are fine. To me, it doesn't matter the person's age, rather how they moderate. TJ can't be everywhere looking at everything. The moderators assist him in that.

Another thing about this board, is that it's not very cultural. It's mostly Americans. They're aren't very many people from around the world who come to this board. :(

It is a nice idea to think about members from different countries are regions. We already have a widespread of members, and we definitely don't go dull on conversation around here.

Let's start with the fact that there are probably a good 200-300 boards here.

The majority of the mods took on their position a long time ago.

Not that many mods are in their teens now -- some of them (like me) were still teens when they first started modding. I was 18 when I took on my first modding job at the Mama's Family board in September of 2003. I still moderate the MF board to this day. When I was around in '03, TJ didn't really have strict rules about moderatorship. That is why Superstar was allowed to become a mod when he was 12 (almost 13) in late 2003/early 2004. Sometime after that, TJ started enforing more strict rules. A lot of us have been modding since early 2004 or earlier.

You may not know this, but now you have to be 15 or over if you wish to apply for position of moderator. Plus, you must post regularly at the board of your choice for six months -- once a week does NOT count. TJ will search your posts to make sure you meet the requirements.

On the contrary, there are not that many moderators when you begin to look at the forum leaders (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showgroups.php?) page. There are a total of 54 or 55 moderators and 3 administrators, out of 25,000+ members. A good 1/8 of the mods post infrequently or have disappeared completely.

I'm sorry you feel like you're being watched by the police; that was never our intention here. When we mods were given our jobs, we were agreeing to take on some serious responsiblities and keep our tempers in check. It's not an easy job. How are you feeling like you are being watched by police? I'm failing to understand what you are trying to emphasize.

Most mods usually snob up and act like moderating is a paying job. That is Joe's point.

I've also had a a moderator to make me quit posting on random.

That is the individual moderator's problem. None of the other mods are responsible for the way an individual moderator is acting. I would suggest that if a poster really is uncomfortable with a moderator, to take it up with TJ.

The Mama's Family board has its periods of activity. It was actually very active when I first took on the job in 2003. It was pretty dead right up before you joined last year, and it gets a fair amount of activity now. It isn't at the same level of activity as it was in '03, but it gets enough to keep me on my toes. ;)

I hate that moderating age limt. I asked for a moderating job for the Roseanne board, but TJ told me he would keep me in mind when I was older.

Another small thing a moderator handles, is trying to get the board they are moderating more active. For instance, when I took over the Seinfeld board it was pretty quiet. I volunteered to help get it more active by making alot of polls and threads and games to help it get going.

That's a good idea. But sometimes if a board isn't active, then those who favor those forums, won't check back in. They go somewhere else looking for other boards for activity.

Oh , I did, but the answer I received, and it's one I don't agree with, but have to accept since TJ is the administrator, is the fact that the moderator has been here for "awhile" and shouldn't be suspended. I don't know what qualifies one to be suspended, I surely thought it was being called a vulgar name. But, I don't make the decisions and I have to be satisfied that TJ knows what is best. I just hope that moderator learned his lesson and will not do that to anyone else here.

To the other poster(s) who bash me for mentioning the situation, my bringing it up is not to gather sympathy, but rather to enlighten posters. There is a way to resolve issues and TJ is the way. If I wanted to be a real B***** (which is what I was called several times) then I would reveal that moderator's name. But I don't. They know who they are and TJ did what TJ thinks is best. Just want posters to understand they don't need to be berated by mods but to also inform TJ when a mod breaks the rules because as I stated before in case u didn't get it: I DON'T WANT THE ACTIONS OF BAD MODERATORS TO AFFECT THOSE MODS WHO DO THEIR JOB AND DO IT WELL. If one didn't get that, then you are the type of person who would do exactly what that bad moderator did.

While I agree that the moderators for the most part do a fantastic job on this site we have to remember that this is a feedback forum and everybody is entitled to give suggestions, their opinions and comments they have about the site. He didn't mention any names and wasn't critizing all the moderators.

No offnse but it seems to me like your the one instigating a confrontation right now and calling out Ireneparalegal because of his feedback. You may not agree with it but Ireneparalegal was merly making a suggestion which is exactly what this board is for.

Moderators are here to do their job. Just because they are a moderator, doesn't mean you have to listen to them automaticaly, for example, Me, I'm the Zoey 101 Moderator, and not any other moderator, so you only have to listen to me in that forum, you don't have to listen to me anywhere else, I'm not the boss anywhere else. Like say, if a mod yelled at you and told you to stop, if he was yelling at you in a forum he doesn't moderate, then you do not have to listen to him, you only have to listen to moderators in the forum they moderate, otherwise, they are just like regular users :) Hope this information helps!
