Video is a dying technology as this photo-comic i made illustrates:- http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/803/vidvoid24cx.jpg Penny Lane 09-08-2005, 07:22 PM Yup! Time marches on. But I think that I am the only person alive who has not yet purchased a DVD ! I have so many video tapes that I cannot see throwing them all away! I have 3 VCR's in my home and as long as they are all working I will continue to use them! Change does come hard to me! I will catch up eventually! :D Fleet 09-08-2005, 07:35 PM I, too, have hundreds of video tapes. It would take forever to transfer then to DVD. vienna waits 09-08-2005, 07:50 PM VHS is so 90's. Penny Lane 09-08-2005, 07:54 PM VHS is so 90's. Ah yes........... The good ole days! Penny Lane 09-08-2005, 07:58 PM I, too, have hundreds of video tapes. It would take forever to transfer then to DVD. Ha Ha! Me too! I cannot give up my video tapes! :D Wasteful! Of course there was one time that I said that I would never have a computer! A passing fad! So there you go................................ theshark8777 09-08-2005, 08:14 PM I have a ton of VHS tapes. Mostly of things I taped off of TV over 10-15 years ago. They aren't labeled either lol. So I have no idea whats even on most of them. There are somethings like the original broadcast of the Family Ties finale I really need to convert to DVD before the tape gets any worse. Mr. Television 09-08-2005, 08:15 PM I will never give up my video tapes. I have hundreds of them and it would take me years to transfer them all. It would be like throwing money away. gilligan fanatic 09-08-2005, 09:19 PM I got hundrerds of VHS' and I made a guide in a spiral notebook, and labled all my tapes and I correspond a page om the notebook. It makes it real easy when looking for something. I don't think it worth it for me to transfer them to DVD. It makes it real easy when looking for something. I don't think it worth it for me to transfer them to DVD. Me, too, "Gilligan." ;) I have a notebook with many of my tapes listed. Otherwise it would take forever to look something up, like a movie. Fleet 09-08-2005, 10:15 PM Ha Ha! Me too! I cannot give up my video tapes! :D Wasteful! Of course there was one time that I said that I would never have a computer! SBTB Geek 09-09-2005, 04:11 AM As long as they will still make VCRs, I'm satisfied. Most retail stores don't even carry them not even Wal-Mart. LOL, I can't even bare the quality of VHS!!! Thank God for DVDs! TVFactFan 09-09-2005, 01:33 PM Yeah DVD's are great, with all the FROZEN scenes and SKIPPING of Scenes. I don;t see any of that on VHS Mr. Television 09-09-2005, 01:39 PM Most retail stores don't even carry them not even Wal-Mart. LOL, I can't even bare the quality of VHS!!! Thank God for DVDs! Walmart still carries them although its now the DVD/VCR combos. They will be out for awhile. Mr. Television 09-09-2005, 01:41 PM Yeah DVD's are great, with all the FROZEN scenes and SKIPPING of Scenes. I don;t see any of that on VHS Yea some DVD's are great and some aren't. I guess its the luck of the draw which ones you get. The most recent movies I picked up play great and then I got season 2 of Three's Company and about 3 or 4 shows on that DVD are messed up. SBTB Geek 09-09-2005, 04:45 PM Yeah DVD's are great, with all the FROZEN scenes and SKIPPING of Scenes. I don;t see any of that on VHS That never happens to me. TVFactFan 09-09-2005, 04:51 PM That never happens to me. yeah whatever, you are the only person in the world who never had a DVd freeze or skip. that's bullsh*t theshark8777 09-09-2005, 05:16 PM yeah whatever, you are the only person in the world who never had a DVd freeze or skip. that's bullsh*t I haven't had that happen either. TVFactFan 09-09-2005, 05:58 PM I haven't had that happen either. whatever theshark8777 09-09-2005, 06:09 PM whatever I have had more video tapes eaten than skips on my DVDs. If you don't scratch them they don't skip. Also, I never said you or anyone else didn't have that happen I am saying I haven't. And unless you live with me, I don't know how you can dispute that. Why would I lie? TVFactFan 09-09-2005, 06:45 PM I have had more video tapes eaten than skips on my DVDs. If you don't scratch them they don't skip. Also, I never said you or anyone else didn't have that happen I am saying I haven't. And unless you live with me, I don't know how you can dispute that. Why would I lie? Ok, and if you don't buy a Cheap VCR your tapes won;t be eaten-lol I never had a VCR eat any of my tapes. theshark8777 09-09-2005, 06:54 PM I didn't have a cheap VCR. I had some old tapes though. I don't use VCRs at all anymore. theshark8777 09-09-2005, 06:59 PM I never had a VCR eat any of my tapes. whatever bossradio93 09-10-2005, 12:41 PM Yeah DVD's are great, with all the FROZEN scenes and SKIPPING of Scenes. I don;t see any of that on VHS Maybe they haven't been cleaned (DVD's) or it must be your player lately. If properly cared for, the discs will last as long as most people! :) Talk about durability!! Theshark8777's right, if the DVD's scratched, it won't play as well as it should be. So be more careful! It may be easy to ask for a replacement disc or it might not. VHS is so 90's. Actually, VHS came out around 1975 and quickly overtook Beta due to the formats popularity a few years later. |
