View Full Version : The Exorcism of Emily Rose Brian Damage 09-08-2005, 12:43 AM This was loosely based on a true story. Anybody interested in seeing it? The true story of what happened was very chilling. ponytail 09-08-2005, 06:45 AM I don't like those kind of movies. They scare the heck out of me. I did see some footage of the real person. She had a sad life. TripperFan 09-08-2005, 08:22 AM Its got mine and my husband's interest. I hated the first "Exorcist". I had read the book (which scared the bejeepers out of me) before the movie and found the special effects in the movie "hokey". This one looks really interesting though and with the new technology, the F/X should be pretty cool. consentida 09-08-2005, 09:40 AM I have to turn the tv off when I see the previews for this. It creeps me out. Part of me is kind of interested in seeing it but I don't think I'll ever muster up the courage to see it. felicitylen 09-08-2005, 03:10 PM I have to turn the tv off when I see the previews for this. It creeps me out. Part of me is kind of interested in seeing it but I don't think I'll ever muster up the courage to see it. Same here. I can't even watch the previews. I quickly change the channel. I'm not even interested in seeing it. Still to this day, watching the Exorcist scares me, so I know I won't be able to sit through this movie. FYI: Jennifer Carpenter, who plays EmilyRose, was also in White Chicks. MsOrange 09-08-2005, 04:12 PM This was loosely based on a true story. Anybody interested in seeing it? Brian Damage 09-08-2005, 04:16 PM this might be a dumb question... but where can you read about the true story? http://www.winnipegsun.com/Entertainment/Movies/2005/09/04/1201502-sun.html Dean Winchester 09-09-2005, 03:25 AM I spoke to a friend who saw a special preview of the movie and he said he won't be going to sleep anytime soon. This will be best to see if you don't have to work or anything the next morning though, because it will keep you awake. However, on the plus side, he said he feels this movie will rescue horror from the rut of remakes and vehicles of teen idols and bring it back to it's foundation after the face of horror movies changed once Scream came out in 96. He thinks (he's 34, so he was a baby during Exorcist and grew up on Jason, Freddie, Michael Myers and all the slashers) that people have lost a lot of their shock after 9-11 and also the incessent gore and trivialization of death in movies, but this film will grab everyone and disturb them. TheGreatPretender 09-09-2005, 12:00 PM Awww I thought this was going to be interesting. Not scare the **** out of me like The Excorcist. CliffClavin 09-09-2005, 12:41 PM It's like half horror & half court room movie. ckohone 09-09-2005, 03:07 PM I'm not sure if i'll go see it but i read about the real girl that this happened to and its pretty spooky. Dean Winchester 09-09-2005, 03:26 PM I'm not sure if i'll go see it but i read about the real girl that this happened to and its pretty spooky. that's why I have no plans to see it, because it's a true story and you know there's nothing even resembling a happy ending. No Emily getting saved so she can appear in awful sequels and parodies with Leslie Nielson, lol. CliffClavin 09-09-2005, 03:52 PM Exorcist 3 was pretty good. Repossed with Lelie Nielson was good also. TripperFan 09-09-2005, 05:07 PM The article says she died during the exorcism. Doesn't that make Satan "the winner"? It also says that officially, the Catholic church denounced it, yet in the ads for the movie, they say that the church recognized it as a true possession. ????? The Chauffeur 09-09-2005, 05:20 PM I remember when i was in second grade they showed the exorcist on the late night movies. My dad came home and turned it on, what he didn't know is I was hiding behind the lazy boy. I was watching it, and as soon as her head started to spin, I flew out from behind the chair, my dad flew out of the chair and did a face plant in the floor. He started screaming, woke everyone up. Needless to say I got in trouble :( F****N Linda Blair! TripperFan 09-09-2005, 05:35 PM I remember when i was in second grade they showed the exorcist on the late night movies. LOL - I never liked Linda Blair either - but more because she was living with Rick Springfield and I had a huge crush on him. Heart Shaped Box 09-09-2005, 05:59 PM I'm not too sure if I want to see this movie or not. I never once saw any of the Exorist movies, but I've watched other famous scary movie (Mike Myers, Freddie and Jason). The only problem is, it's a true story. After I watch scary movies, I get freaked out and feel like something bad is going to happen to me. But I can always tell myself, "Calm down, the movie is fake. It's not true." But this one is so I'm undecided right now. TripperFan 09-09-2005, 06:05 PM I'm not too sure if I want to see this movie or not. They probably also have taken some creative license with it. I'd see it.....but with a good friend! ;) PrettyinPink55 09-09-2005, 08:41 PM I really want to see this movie! Thanks for posting the link about the true story, Brian Damage! Brian Damage 09-09-2005, 10:07 PM I really want to see this movie! Thanks for posting the link about the true story, Brian Damage! Not a problem. I want to see this movie, but I think I'll wait till it comes out on DVD. Brian Damage 09-09-2005, 10:08 PM The article says she died during the exorcism. PrettyinPink55 09-09-2005, 10:08 PM Not a problem. I want to see this movie, but I think I'll wait till it comes out on DVD. The thing is, none of my friends want to see it! So I guess unless I want to fly solo to the movie theater, which would look strange, then I guess I'll have to wait for it to come on DVD too! ;) MaydayMalonesGirl 09-09-2005, 10:16 PM I just saw this movie. I can't believe that a lot of what happened in it could have really happened, but yeah. I don't know. It was pretty scary. PrettyinPink55 09-09-2005, 10:16 PM I just saw this movie. Sometimes we're healed on the other side of Heaven. The Chauffeur 09-10-2005, 09:07 AM Not a problem. I can't believe that a lot of what happened in it could have really happened, but yeah. I don't know. It was pretty scary. Was it as scary as The Excorcist? rusyd 09-10-2005, 10:34 AM I want to see it as well. The Exorcist to me, is the scariest movie I have seen, so I'll see how this movie compares. The fact that it is based on a true story intrigues me. Number 9 Dream 09-10-2005, 11:52 AM Same here :) My friends hate scary movies! Oh well, I guess I'll go see it alone ;) The thing is, none of my friends want to see it! So I guess unless I want to fly solo to the movie theater, which would look strange, then I guess I'll have to wait for it to come on DVD too! ;) PrettyinPink55 09-10-2005, 11:54 AM Same here :) My friends hate scary movies! Oh well, I guess I'll go see it alone ;) I don't know if I can brave it out alone! As much as I love scary movies, I get scared veeerrry easily! Number 9 Dream 09-10-2005, 11:59 AM Same for me :D Creepy type movies always freak me out more so than slasher type films but I always go see them anyway....I'm a sucker for a good horror movie :) I don't know if I can brave it out alone! As much as I love scary movies, I get scared veeerrry easily! Ewan's My Man 09-10-2005, 12:38 PM I don't know, I pretty much wrote off most horror movies after this big horror movie streak because I kept on picturing Samara from The Ring standing in the corner when I turned on the light. HOWEVER, I've only see this preview once and I was intrigued. I think I may end up seeing it. I don't know WHY I want to see it but I was intrigued, and I think I feel like I need to prove it to myself. But I think I'll wait a while and see some more people's feedback. EmoJoe 09-10-2005, 07:20 PM Ugh great, im gonna get nightmares from reading that darn true story thing. I got nightmares from reading the summary of the Texas Chainsaw Massacare, so needless to say I wont be seeing this movie. Ewwww, Samara was one of the freakiest characters to me  LucyCompanyPhan 09-11-2005, 01:22 AM I planned on seeing something else but then ended up seeing this and it was alright. I liked how it was told in the courtroom. It was scary but it wasn't like your usual 'scary' movie more like creepy. If you like exorcisms or something, its really good. It was just not my kind of thing to really like but it was well made. Belair 09-11-2005, 05:18 AM I sort of want to see it, and on the other hand, I dont think I want to very much. It looks VERY interesting and VERY good, but movies about Satan scare me because he really exists, its not just fiction (for me anyway.) EmoJoe 09-11-2005, 11:34 AM My cousin saw it and said it was boring and not scary at all. rusyd 09-11-2005, 12:01 PM I sort of want to see it, and on the other hand, I dont think I want to very much. It looks VERY interesting and VERY good, but movies about Satan scare me because he really exists, its not just fiction (for me anyway.) That is how I feel also, but I love scary movies and then I have nightmares after. :) AllIWantIsYourClutch 09-11-2005, 02:28 PM The Exorcist scared the **** out of me. I saw that in theaters when they brought it back...I loved it though. I really want to see this. Karen* 09-13-2005, 10:52 PM I NEED to watch this movie. I normally hate horror movies, but I love them when it's done in good taste and this one actually seems like it is. To me, at least. :D 80s_Fan 12-27-2005, 04:18 PM My boyfriend and I watched it last night; we both liked it. For me, "The Exorcist" was a lot better and scarier,etc... Redd Foxx 12-27-2005, 08:32 PM Um, was this even creepy at all? It was pg-13.. Karen* 12-28-2005, 02:19 AM Um, was this even creepy at all? It was pg-13.. The distributors of the movie released an unrated version of the DVD in conjunction with the theatrical PG-13 release, so there is a "creepier" version available. I NEED to watch this movie. I normally hate horror movies, but I love them when it's done in good taste and this one actually seems like it is. To me, at least. :D I can't believe I posted that...this movie was DISTURBING!! OMG. That was some creepy **** right there. SBTB Geek 12-29-2005, 03:20 AM I rented the DVD earlier this week and I regret doing so. The movie wasn't even midly interesting. |
