This was loosely based on a true story. Anybody interested in seeing it? The true story of what happened was very chilling.

I don't like those kind of movies. They scare the heck out of me. I did see some footage of the real person. She had a sad life.

Its got mine and my husband's interest. I hated the first "Exorcist". I had read the book (which scared the bejeepers out of me) before the movie and found the special effects in the movie "hokey".

This one looks really interesting though and with the new technology, the F/X should be pretty cool.

I have to turn the tv off when I see the previews for this. It creeps me out. Part of me is kind of interested in seeing it but I don't think I'll ever muster up the courage to see it.

Same here. I can't even watch the previews. I quickly change the channel. I'm not even interested in seeing it. Still to this day, watching the Exorcist scares me, so I know I won't be able to sit through this movie.

FYI: Jennifer Carpenter, who plays EmilyRose, was also in White Chicks.

I spoke to a friend who saw a special preview of the movie and he said he won't be going to sleep anytime soon. This will be best to see if you don't have to work or anything the next morning though, because it will keep you awake.

However, on the plus side, he said he feels this movie will rescue horror from the rut of remakes and vehicles of teen idols and bring it back to it's foundation after the face of horror movies changed once Scream came out in 96. He thinks (he's 34, so he was a baby during Exorcist and grew up on Jason, Freddie, Michael Myers and all the slashers) that people have lost a lot of their shock after 9-11 and also the incessent gore and trivialization of death in movies, but this film will grab everyone and disturb them.

Awww I thought this was going to be interesting. Not scare the **** out of me like The Excorcist.

It's like half horror & half court room movie.

that's why I have no plans to see it, because it's a true story and you know there's nothing even resembling a happy ending. No Emily getting saved so she can appear in awful sequels and parodies with Leslie Nielson, lol.

Exorcist 3 was pretty good.

The article says she died during the exorcism. Doesn't that make Satan "the winner"?

It also says that officially, the Catholic church denounced it, yet in the ads for the movie, they say that the church recognized it as a true possession.

I remember when i was in second grade they showed the exorcist on the late night movies. My dad came home and turned it on, what he didn't know is I was hiding behind the lazy boy. I was watching it, and as soon as her head started to spin, I flew out from behind the chair, my dad flew out of the chair and did a face plant in the floor. He started screaming, woke everyone up. Needless to say I got in trouble :( F****N Linda Blair!

LOL - I never liked Linda Blair either - but more because she was living with Rick Springfield and I had a huge crush on him. :lol:

But remember, its a movie about a real life case - not like watching a true documentary with the actual person involved. They probably also have taken some creative license with it. I'd see it.....but with a good friend! ;)

I want to see it as well. The Exorcist to me, is the scariest movie I have seen, so I'll see how this movie compares. The fact that it is based on a true story intrigues me.

I don't know if I can brave it out alone! :lol: As much as I love scary movies, I get scared veeerrry easily!

Same for me :D Creepy type movies always freak me out more so than slasher type films but I always go see them anyway....I'm a sucker for a good horror movie :)

HOWEVER, I've only see this preview once and I was intrigued. I think I may end up seeing it. Ugh great, im gonna get nightmares from reading that darn true story thing. I got nightmares from reading the summary of the Texas Chainsaw Massacare, so needless to say I wont be seeing this movie.

Ewwww, Samara was one of the freakiest characters to me :eek:

I planned on seeing something else but then ended up seeing this and it was alright. I liked how it was told in the courtroom. It was scary but it wasn't like your usual 'scary' movie more like creepy. If you like exorcisms or something, its really good. It was just not my kind of thing to really like but it was well made.

I sort of want to see it, and on the other hand, I dont think I want to very much. It looks VERY interesting and VERY good, but movies about Satan scare me because he really exists, its not just fiction (for me anyway.)

My cousin saw it and said it was boring and not scary at all.

That is how I feel also, but I love scary movies and then I have nightmares after. :)

The Exorcist scared the **** out of me. I saw that in theaters when they brought it back...I loved it though. I really want to see this.

My boyfriend and I watched it last night; we both liked it.

The distributors of the movie released an unrated version of the DVD in conjunction with the theatrical PG-13 release, so there is a "creepier" version available.

I NEED to watch this movie. I normally hate horror movies, but I love them when it's done in good taste and this one actually seems like it is. To me, at least. :D

I can't believe I posted that...this movie was DISTURBING!! OMG. That was some creepy **** right there. :eek:

I rented the DVD earlier this week and I regret doing so. The movie wasn't even midly interesting.
