View Full Version : I loved this show at first, but
rjrane 10-16-2000, 04:31 PM it lasted a little too long for it's own good. The original idea had wrung itself out after five or six seasons.I didn't mind when Julie married,I even understood why she left, as far as Barbara getting married:Why not?But Ann remarrying was TOO MUCH!
Richard 12-05-2000, 06:05 PM The final season of ODAAT didn't exist for me because although I loved the show at first and remained faithful to it for years, when Ann re-married I dropped it like a hot potato.
70'schick 11-24-2001, 07:32 PM Loved the early episodes, but hated when Max arrived...... uggghhhhhh and the other kid Jeremy orwhatever his name was was way too annoying
mamamiasweetpeaches 01-30-2002, 10:06 PM I think "the other kid"s name was Alex. What WAS that all about? Was Ann dating his father, his father died and Alex moved in with them? How's that work?????Never a big legal adoption progress on television...just move down the hall with the Romanos. Anyway,I lost interest when Ann married Dr. Johnny Fever...her daughters husbands father.Too far out on a limb for me.BUT..I'm pretty sure I stuck it out til the very end.
DJM77 01-30-2002, 11:37 PM I liked watching One Day At A Time much better before I found out about Mackenzie Phillips being a hardcore drug addict throughout most of the series.
mstewart 02-01-2002, 12:12 AM I was an avid fan of the show. I think it was one of Norman Lear's best sitcoms. Bonnie Franklin was magnificant in the role of Ann Romano. I had a crush on her especially when she cut her hair and look more attractive. My opinion the show should have ended when Ann remarried. The final season was horrible and it looked as though everyone on there was going through the motions of the season. It looked as though everyone (especially Bonnie, Pat Harrington, and Valerie Bertinelli) who was on the show from day 1. Hope to see a reunion one of these years. But let's get that show on Nick-At-Nite or TVLand. I'm there.
mstewart 02-01-2002, 12:14 AM I meant to say it looked as though Bonnie Franklin, Pat Harrington and Valerie Bertinelli was ready in the final season of the show to move on. It showed in their performances and the quality of the episodes during that final season.

Ralph Macchio's character, Jeremy as a replacement kid in the winding days of Eight is Enough confused that poster...
Doe eyed kid with vulnerability, pre teen hearthrob...etc, etc...

Ralph Machio was small, but he was okay looking....slightly above average.
Alex looked like a total nerd, so I still don't know how someone can get the two confused.

What do you mean?
Do you think Alex (Glenn Scarpelli) was as good looking as Ralph Machio? Do you really think they looked alike?

Not exactly but I thought they were both very good looking.

They were the same "type" of young teen actor -young good-looking enthic- Frankie Avalon (Without the singing) type. You could even say Scott Baio 3-4 years earlier was also that "Type" when he made it big.
It's like the Billy Mummy/Ron Howard 1960's thing - two all-american boys the same age, roughly the same look and type. (Although at one point Billy was shorter for a couple of years) Billy was when you wanted a kid with who was more of a dramatic actor (he rarely did comedy) and Ron was when you wanted the nice kid who was a little more laid back who did more comedy than drama.

Love Square Pegs, have it on DVD.

Scott Baio wasn't small like Glenn and Ralph. He also looked nothing like either of them. As for Ralph and Glenn, I do not think they looked anything alike. I was a teeny-bopper in that era, and I never got those two confused. That's all I'm saying.
Anna Karenina 06-19-2017, 09:16 PM Love Square Pegs, have it on DVD.
Perfect video keepsake for kids in our age range!

I wouldn't bother talking to that certain poster. Just a waste of time talking to them.
And it's Billy Mumy not Mummy.

Scott Baio started off small like most young boys.

Don't worry, I'm on your side with the Glenn/Ralph thing. To be fair, "nerdy" doesn't always mean ugly like some people like to make it out to be. And, some people just get TV characters mixed up.

True, but he grew up to be of average height. Neither Ralph or Glenn ever achieved that.

I think they did actually.
