Which one is better, Diff'rent Strokes or Facts of Life?

I like Facts of Life waaaaaaaay better, don't get me wrong, I love diff'rent strokes, but Facts of Life has a better plot, a BETTER set and funnier characters. Like Jo and Blair :) What do you guys prefer?

I'll go with Facts of life although its close.

Arnold's funnier than anyone on FOL, but I think Facts was a better show altogether. I love both though.

I love both myself, but I'll give the slight edge to Facts of Life.

the big difference between FOL and DS is that both shows had new blooded added in latter seasons. IMO, FOL was able to survive Andy and Beverly Ann (who I ended up loving) while the aditions of Sam and Maggie were nails in the coffin for DS.

I think most males would choose DS and most females would choose FOL. I can;t see a guy liking the FOL over DS. Or maybe he can-lol

Num1FOLFan is a man too. So is USTVFanFromUK. They both prefer FOL.
So do plenty of guys I know who don't post here that I know who love Facts.

the DS/FOL analogy is like Home Improvement/Roseanne. Both shows have male fans and female fans, but HI is generally considered the "male" show and Roseanne "female", yet I know a lot of men who prefer Roseanne and women who preferred Home Improvement.

I will admit that I only watched FOL to see Tootie and Blair but still preferred DS

I like both shows but picking one over the other, I'd take Diff'rent Strokes. It's just more a favorite of mine, nothing at all against FOL.

I vote for Facts of Life, defenetely. I don't like Diff'rent Strokes, that Arnold gets annoying. Facts of Life is my favorite show of all time anyway.

Different Strokes

things I prefer about FOL to DS:
-the comradery of the cast
-the show adapted better to the cast getting older
-Andy and Pippa didn't steal time away from the characters we cared about, while Willis' role was greatly reduced in the last 2 seasons and Sam was basically a convienient excuse to fire Dana Plato
-the lead characters had more depth
-the latter seasons were much better than the latter seasons of DS. The last 2 seasons of Strokes are almost unwatchable, the second to last season of FOL was every bit as good as the Eastland episodes IMO.

things I prefer about DS to FOL:
-the show was great from the beginning
-Gary Coleman was hysterical
-Mrs. Garrett was a riot on DS, on FOL she was overbearing
-Willis was cooler than any of the male characters FOL had

well, I don't think she was counting the first season, since it was mostly a different show. Some people like it, but many prefer seasons 2-9. It's similar to the first season of A Different World.

Without a doubt The Facts of Life!!!!! I do like Different Strokes though.

I can only imagine how much better the last 2 1/2 seasons would've been if it wasn't for those 2.

DS was cancelled by two networks and fell down to #75 in the ratings, FOL ended because they all agreed it was time to go out and had a final episode and everything, and in their last season, was #37, which was better than any season of DS after the fifth year.

Now it's pointless because ratings don't always mean everything, but... people still loved FOL till the end, with DS people gave up around the time Sam came on.

TJ has the ratings for all 8 seasons on DS Online. Seasons 4-7 were pretty consistent ratingswise, but then it went to ABC and plummetted badly. I'm surprised how big a drop it took between the 3rd and 4th seasons, I thought seasons 4-6 were probably the best years, I liked it when Willis and Kimberly were older and Arnold was starting to grow up but he was still funny.

I relate to The Facts of Life better so that wins in my book.

Diff'rent Strokes! Even though Facts of Life is awesome in its own right, but I love DS!

Both are Great & also very entertaining during the early seasons respectively.

I think FOL aged way better. Especially when you consider the tragic lives most of the DS kids had and how 2 of them died so young.
