View Full Version : Well, I'm about Halfway through season 5 . . .
JeffRuss1972 09-04-2005, 03:02 PM And so far, these episodes I frind pretty decent/entertaining:
The Evans Get Involved
Wheels
Breaker, Breaker
Thelma's Brief Encounter
Requiem for a Wino
Penny's Christmas
Where There's Smoke
**I like the way the audience seemed INVOLVED again(like in season 2) in Penny's Christmas when that pickpocket stole her money AND when they zoomed in on the security camera watching her. THEY WERE PISSED-lol.
**I like J.J.'s friends in Wheels (Thanks for the tip Solomon!)
**I enjoy that character actor who played Thelma's love interest in Thelma's Brief Encounter(he was also on Sanford & Son that same year). I also liked his facial expressions when J.J. and Wilona were trying to give him away by making innuendos about him being in jail.
**I though Robert Guilliome(sp?) (Benson actor) did a good job in Requiem for a Wino, but they should have used Ned the Wino because the show had a history with him. Good episode, though.
Brian Damage 09-04-2005, 03:40 PM Thanks for posting that. I have yet to get season 5, but I really want it.
JeffRuss1972 09-04-2005, 06:30 PM This may sound strange, but season 5 is A LOT better if you treat it sort of as a seperate show from the early ones(years 1-3). I use to refuse to watch the 5th year eps, but now I'm keeping an open mind and trying to imagine it as maybe a show that is just beginning. When I look at it in that light, I'm not quite so critical of it and enjoy it more. JMO :)
Dwaynew 09-04-2005, 10:47 PM So true, the 1-8 episodes don't seem like the classic goodtimes, but am enjoying the 8-15, I haven't seen past the 13 yet

I guess the guy who played Ned the Wino was done with the Wino Roles by that time since Sanford and Son had ended. But I agree, he should have been in that episode.

I agree...it didn't deal with hard-hitting social issues (except for The Evans Get Involved and maybe Wheels). It was more of a situational comedy. I like the fact that Bookman got more exposure this season (no fat jokes please...lol).
One of my favorite scenes was the episode where JJ gets a ulcer and Bookman goes to the fridge and takes out everything. "FRIED CHICKEN...MMMMMMM".
Then when he tries to get away with the food, each member snatches a plate away from him (you could see Ralph and Jimme "trying" to cover up their laughter during that scene), and Willona wrestles him for that chicken leg and then throws him out. I almost fell out my chair laughing.

I think you're right about treating it like a different show. JJ's different, No Flo, Lots of episodes surrounding Willona, Penny,...... wait... , it IS a different show, hahaha
