I was recently dubbing a vhs tape to dvd and the picture was jumpy. After awhile, the picture would black out, but you could still he the audio. In some cases it would even stop as it would say "signal lost" I checked the vhs tape and when I played it back, it was fine. Anybody know what the problem might be?

I'd say that the signal was too weak to be detected. That used to happen to me often with my Philips + system recorder. Haven't seen it happen once since moving to a Panasonic - system recorder (2+ years ago).

Is there a way to correct it?

I "fixed" it by buying a machine that didn't do it.
