View Full Version : Anyone watching the NBC telethon for hurricane relief?
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 09-02-2005, 08:44 PM If so, did you see Kanye West just run his mouth? O_O They had to cut him off camera and shoot to someone else. Mike Myers was next to him and just staring. I didnt hear the whole thing because he was talking too fast and stuttering, but they he started to go on about George W. Bush hating blacks and it was just O_O. Then he was saying how hes gonna call his agent right now and see what the most amount of money he can give and something about him going shopping before but didnt I dunno.
Number 9 Dream 09-02-2005, 08:45 PM OMG, I didn't see that but I am turning it on now.

What an idiot.
I'm actually laughing here trying to figure out exactly what happened.
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 09-02-2005, 08:58 PM Random thought. I totally had no idea Aaron Neville looked like that. You hear his songs on the radio, and then you see a pic of him and his voice and body just dont match up. Hes all bulked up with tattoos and an earring.
That will probably be cut out of the west coast rebroadcast.
I wish I'd DVRed it from CNBC and MSNBC instead of NBC, but they broadcast in mono.

 Evidently I was the only one who saw it -__________-. I didnt hear everything word for word, but all of a sudden hes like.. 'George Bush hates blacks' or something like that and then they cut him off and shot to someone else.
Brent88 09-02-2005, 09:39 PM Others saw it... the other boards I go to lit up like fire.
Transcript:
“I hate the way they portray us in the media. You see a black family and they say we are looting, you see a white family and they say they are looking for food. And, you know, its been five days because most of the people ARE black. And even for me to complain, I would be a hypocrite because I would turn away from the TV because it’s too hard to watch. I’ve even been shopping before even giving a donation, so now I’m calling my business manager right to see what is the biggest amount I can give. And just to imagine, if I was down there and those are my people down there. If there is anybody out there that wants to do anything that we can help about the way America is set up the help the poor, the black people, the less well off as slow as possible. Red cross is doing as much as they can. We already realize a lot of the people that could help are at war right now, fighting another way. And now they’ve given them permission to go down and shoot us.”
“George Bush doesn’t care about black people.”
Brian Damage 09-02-2005, 09:43 PM You know, I wish this telethon was advertised as much as other things are on this board. Maybe more people here would've seen it. I guess it is all politics. ohno:
EmoJoe 09-02-2005, 11:15 PM I would watch it, but I dont like anyone performing, so im not watching it. Im glad they're doing it, though.

You could have just as easily advertised it as much as anyone else here, I actually almost forgot about it until right before 8. For som reason I thought it was on at 10, I guess because that ABC special was on at 10.
I recorded it on the DVD recorder but I haven't watched it all yet.
Brian Damage 09-02-2005, 11:46 PM Unfortunately, I was at work and couldn't get to this site to post it. It just seems if this was on ABC, it would've been a sticky and in bold lettering.

Like I said, I almost missed it myself, I wish someone would have put it on here. I did but the Larry King one up though, it was too late for the NBC one when I put that up (it was over half over). Any other specials coming up, someone post them so we don't miss them!

That's all I know right now
TripperFan 09-03-2005, 12:01 AM That will probably be cut out of the west coast rebroadcast.
I wish I'd DVRed it from CNBC and MSNBC instead of NBC, but they broadcast in mono.
I just caught the west coast feed and they DID allow him to even go on about how they had orders to shoot them and then cut off Mike when he jumped in about the Bush not caring thing. They went to a graphic screen until it then went to the other guy outside.
Poor Mike - he didn't even come on with everybody at the end (course, neither did Kanye, but with Mike, it was probably more out of embarrassment).
Brent88 09-03-2005, 12:25 AM MSNBC is repeating it now...
Sweet.
MissZero 09-03-2005, 12:30 AM can u still call to donate??

Brian Damage 09-03-2005, 12:41 AM They showed the Kayne West segment, but edited out the Bush comment. Man, Meyers looked like he wanted to crawl under a rock.

Fine by me, rest assured it won't be one sided either.

Things like that scare me to death, I am a white person that is still living in a neighborhood that has become 90% black, I have no problem with that at all, I have great neighbors who we get along with great! The problem that I have is that a lot of younger thugs in the area try to turn it into race issue and will misinterpret this into a race issue in a whole and get very ugly in these kinds of situations. My father lives 2 blocks from me, he's become the local handyman in the neighborhood and is the first man to help them when they need it, he is 63 and has a hip replacement, but still is the first to help hem even when they can't afford it at the time. He doesn't have much at all being forced into early retirement, but he pays out of his own pocket to help them here and is deeply respected. I know no one would hurt him or my mom, everyone looks out for him. But I have seen with my own eyes that kind of revolt for reasons just like these. It disgusts me that people are trying to turn this into a race issue, cause I don't believe it is. Its a dangerous thing to say because there are STILL a lot of people that are just driven by hate and are just looking for a reason to lash out in the most dangerous way they know how. I had just sang the praises just the other day about his stand against anti-gay bashing, I had a lot of respect for him, but now I just think he's being irresponsible. I just hope this stuff stops now
theshark8777 09-03-2005, 10:27 AM I finally went back to see what Kanye West had to say.
Whether you believe what he said or not, there is a time and place for political remarks, and I just don't think that was the right time. Like Michael Moore at the Oscars.
