Okay, there's this contest on Fuse ((a music channel)) to design a shirt for the band My Chemical Romance. Whoever wins gets their shirt sold at their shows and gets to meet the band. The band themselves are the judges. I made any entry and before submitting it, I read the rules very carefully. One part says -

VERY IMPORTANT : The image you submit MUST be your own original composition and NOT cotain any copyrighted, trademarked or otherwise licensed imagery or text from any other source.

I used lyrics from the band on it, does that count as copywritten? I mean it IS copywritten, but it is FOR the band, they decide who wins...

I made a few others with different text, one saying "What an excellent day for an execution" - does that count as copywritten as well? I changed one word from a quote from a movie... also, is "'Til death do us part" copywritten?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated :)

Thats actually a good question. On one hand I would think that it is copyrighted, but on the other I would say it isn't. Hopefully someone else can be a bigger help to you :)

they probably mean copyrighted by an unrelated company or something. the name "my chemical romance" is probably copyrighted, and it would be crap if you weren't allowed to put it on the shirt.

Good question. Im guessing you can use lyrics, but you should probably make sure you can before you send it in.

I hate to be annoying and bump this. But I'm going to.
