Closing the board is NOT the solution. Banning or kicking off members who fail to respect the rules or act uncivil IS. This is a trading forum, let's remember that. Off-topic subjects, while I'm sure are on people's minds, don't belong here.

Now, let's get back to trading.

Well said, Padre.

I believe that TJ now realizes that being too lax at the Trading Post does NOT work. I am not articulate enough nor do I have the confrontive type personality necessary for babysitting such a forum. However, the two moderators that we now have are an excellent team for this position for many reasons, so I think you will be surprised how much LESS garbage they will put up with, than I did.

First of all, posting postive/negative feedback about yourself using cheap tricks such as going through different ISPs with various emails can easily be seen through when folks use the identical grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. People that try these tactics eventually get found out and/or put up red flags among those who've been here for awhile.

Secondly, I would suggest that when a more experienced trader takes the time to share some of his know-how that we glean from their knowledge, rather than getting defensive.

Thirdly, treat others with the same respect you desire. No matter what you say, if you don't attempt at a little bit of tact, you'll rankle others even if you have legitimate advice.

Above all, be honest, keeping pious chit chat type stuff AWAY from the Trading Post and you'll rile up fewer people.

IMHO
