As of sept 26th, Good times is gone from TVONE so get all the UNCUT eps you can between now and then. I still have to get-"Florida's Night Out" from season 4 which is luckily going to air in Sept before the 26th

It's not gone for good, it can return as they have rights for years to come (it could be just for that week of 9/26, but not confirmed yet). TV Land still will air the show.

Why or how do you think they get to show uncut episodes of Good Times on TVONE, and no other station does?

That's great news for me since I have all of Good Times on DVD except for season 6.

I've been longing for Amen since it left TBS and it's great that 227 is coming back. I guess that means that they might get rid of Roc which I also love.

I don't know why they can't have all of those great shows on at once.

TvLand said that they cut and edit Good Times for commercial purposes. Just so they can air those damn commercials every 5 mins.

TvOne doesnt have as many commercials as TvLand.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. Why don't they show as many commercials on TV ONE, they don't need the money or something?

When Good Times came on TBS at 5:00 in the morning, I taped them and found out they cut out 4 and 5 minutes of the show, just for commercials I guess.

TV One is not an ad-supported network. At least not yet, when they are, they will start editing their programs. Hopefully that never happens. AmericanLife TV is not ad-supported either, every other channel that airs reruns is basically is.

But I still don't understand. Is TVLand committed contractually to air a certain amt of commercials???? Why don't they show the entire show (Just the way it first appeared on CBS) and fit in the amt of commercials that will fit? CBS also is "ad-supported", that's how CBS made (still makes) it's $$$. So if TVLand or any other station played a certain amt of commercials per show, then what is the problem? I need more technical answers, as you can tell.

Yes, it actually took me a while to realized they were uncut. When i first started watching GT on TV ONE something just seemed different and i was like-"wait, these eps are uncut". And i was happy as hell. Now if they can just pick up the Jeffersons, i will be the happiest guy in pennsylvania

All cable networks who are ad-supported are required of 8 minutes of commercial time these days. And you have to understand, in 1974 when CBS aired the show, those days only about 4 minutes of commercials were done per half hour. Times change over the years. Network television sitcoms now a days are not even 22 minutes. TV One doesn't have enough money to be sponsored by commercials yet.

Thanx for the info. I appreciate that. I get it now. DUH IRENE!! You know what is different now compared to then. A show usually ended at for example, 8:25, a commercial or two would play then the credits would begin to roll and then more commercials until 8:30. Nowadays, shows can end right at 8:30 with the credits showing on the side.

Just because someone has posted that one episode is edited, doesn't mean that the whole series is edited. I don't see any editing on the DVD's, I think they are a great thing to have. I can't wait until season 6 comes out. JMO

Did I say all the eps were edited? I said there are SOME edits on the DVD. Never said every ep was edited. What I'm really trying to say is My Good times collection is more complete than the DVD collection-lol

Well I'm happy with the episodes that I got to see all over again.

And if Amen and 227 is only shown for the month of September then I'm happy with that also. Now if they throw in Gimme a Break, I'll be in TV Heaven.
