I've read some blogs over the past few days connected to the NOLA site regarding a lot of people having to leave their pets behind in the hurricane, they are really beating themselves up! As a pet owner, I completely sympathize. I have looked on the Humane Society of the United States, and they have organized a relief effort to rescue displaced and injured pets in hopes of reuniting them with their owners, and are on their way. I have sent e-mails to some major news networks in hopes that they make people aware of this effort requesting they either post it withe the other relief groups or speak of it on air. If you anyone is interested in helping make people aware of this, send an e-mail to the major media affiliates or do as I have done in my signature. I don't know if you consider this spam, it isn't meant to be, but this would bring a ray of light to already darkened lives! :biglove:

the charity you are trying to promote is The Humane Society of the United States Disaster Relief Fund (https://secure.hsus.org/01/disaster_relief_fund_2005?source=drfhbp) (people are lazy - gotta give them the link ;) ) to help rescue animals affected by Hurricane Katrina and other disasters.

there are a LOT of extremely sad stories that are going to come out of this disaster - I think that a lot of people are going to need help for quite some time.
