"Michael Romance" was funny as hell.

I laugh everytime I hear that

Michael had no confidence to talk to girls and Florida said "unless a man is sure of himself, he ain't got nothing going for him but a plate of Cold Grits"

To me it was just funny the way she said it, almost like it was a common expression (cold grits)

Not to be or sound mean, but "no" I didn't laugh. It was an expression that garnered laughter and applause but I figured it was out of respect, or maybe the audience was "advised with a little help" to react. You know, with those studio signs that flash "applause". I don't want to make a situation out of her statement, but does it mean basically that if he had confidence, then Michael would be like a plate of "hot" grits? No one wants cold grits, just like no woman wants a man who is "blah" "ordinary", etc.?

That's good, Irene. I always liked what and how she said that, not with it being funny but just good advice. You explained it pretty good, nobody wants cold grits. You ever tried eating cold grits? BLAAAAHHHHH!

Actually, I never had grits. I am hispanic, so to be honest with everyone, I didn't even know until abt two years ago what grits were. I guess her comment would be obvious to me if she had said: "All you have going for you is a plate of cold beans". I hope I didn't disrespect anyone, just being honest and forthright. I love to be educated on things. Thanx Craftman for the comment.

i agree, that is one of my favorites lines on Good Times too and I die laughing everytime i hear it. the changing inflection in her voice is what made alot of her lines hilarious. I used to do alot of silly creative type things on my answering machine years ago. & I had this line on it & whenever Id check my messages you could always hear people cracking up before they left their message. another good one is when Thelma was hiding some sort of secret & Florida confronts her by saying "Thelma, you can shuck some of the people some of the time & you can shuck half the people half the time but ya can't shuck ya momma none of the time!!!" the audience of course roared.
