Now that ABC has unwisely pulled the plug on Norm, I suggest writing to the show's studio, Warner Brothers TV (not to be confused with the WB Network), and lobby them to either persuade another network to pick it up or revive it as a first-run syndicated series---meaning to produce new episodes to be exclusively seen in syndication.

That sort of thing may not happen all the time, but it has happened with some shows Charles In Charge. That show was canceled by CBS in 1985 after just one season, only to be brought back in early 1987 via first-run syndication. (The show was canceled for good in 1990.)

I think that's a good idea. I also think writing to WB would be good because they need good sitcoms and the show might get better treatment there. It would be a chance for WB to get a good sitcom with a built-in audience. So, I think writing to both Warner Bros. TV and WB is a good idea.

I agree, Freekazilla, about writing to th WB Network. They air Nikki, which is, of course produced by Norm/Drew Carey producer Bruce Helford. It also, of course, stars former Norm star Nikki Cox.

Norm may be raunchy, but I think WB could get away with such a show. Besides, many of the comedies (including Nikki) the network has on right now are not appropriate for everyone.

Undoubtedly, Norm would have better treatment at WB, partly because the show is produced by Warner Brothers Televison, which would give the network an ownership stake in the series.

Plus, if WB picked it up, there would probably be 3 more seasons. WB would probably pick up the usual mid-season order of 13 episodes. I don't know the exact number of episodes there are now, but I figured there's about 57. So that would bring "Norm" up to 70 episodes. Then they might do 2 15 episode seasons to bring the show to 100 episodes. Of course, that all depends on the WB picking up "Norm" and whether or not that would change Norm MacDonald's mind about ending the show at 100 episodes.

Also, bringing "Norm" to WB would be good for their affiliates. If "Norm" made it to syndication, a lot of their affiliates would buy the reruns.
