their old stuff was great, their more recent songs (at least the ones released as singles) have been a little too much on the smooth side for my liking but they have some killer stuff in the 60's and 70's.

well, when you consider their first hit was in 1959 and they had a #1 album in 2003 (and it wasn't a Ray Charles case where death spiked sales), I'd say they've had a pretty impressive career and apparently a lot of people like them for them to have a successful career in excess of 45 years. I think only the Stones, Barbra Streisand, Stevie Wonder (whenever his cd comes out) and Paul McCartney even come close when it comes to artists who've been around so long and can still score a successful album.

There were so many Singing Groups from the 70's that sound so much better than the Crappy Isley brothers. Isley Brother Music makes my ear bleed

They wrote one of the best songs the Beatles ever covered - "Twist And Shout." Hard to hate anyone who wrote such a great song (even though the Beatles' version is lightyears better than the original).

I haven't heard many of the Isley Brothers' songs, but I really love their version of "Summer Breeze" - I like the original version of the song too, but I think the Isley Brothers' version is my favourite.

Anyway, what I've heard of them, I've liked, but everyone has their own opinions. I like songs by some of the groups Solomon mentioned too.

I have all the CD's to the above referenced groups, as well as the Isley Brothers. Blue Magic was da bomb. "Was" being the operative word here. Isley's are still going strong. I sure don't like the music they are now doing. That R Kelly crap/style music with those corny lyrics that don't even rhyme and those damn videos of the same ol' thing (lady cheating on boyfriend). Anyhow, "Living In the Life" is my favorite song by them. My second favorite is "Don't say goodnight" Oh man, memories. Damn, that's when they were still good. Remember Isley Jasper Isley "Caravan of Love". I know there are alot of things we don't agree on Soloman, but the Isleys had their own style.

In all honesty I have probably heard the Isley Brothers on the radio before. Though I would probably have to hear one of their songs to know if I've actually heard it before. I wouldn't know one of their songs by its title.
