A pro ana/mia what? Something promoting anorexia and bulimia?

Definitions of Pro-Ana on the Web:

is a movement of teenage girls who believe that being anorexic is a lifestyle choice and not harmful, sort of like getting a tattoo.

Pro-ana is a largely Web-based movement which views the disease anorexia nervosa in a positive light, considering it a "lifestyle choice" rather than a disorder. There are a growing number of pro-ana websites and discussion groups where self-identified anorectics come together to reinforce their beliefs and behaviours, creating a positive feedback loop.

it's not really as black/white as the definition makes it out to be... I dunno how to explain it. I don't want to encourage a google search because I do not know if that would trigger anyone that might be recovering from anoreixa.

Yeah I recently joined a weight loss board and it said something about all boards like that need to have a message or like a disclaimer that the moderators don't promote any dangerous weight loss more specificly eating disorders.

Geez I didn't know there were actual boards/ groups that SUPPORT eating disorders. ohno:

Oh...okay, that sounds too weird. Almost cultish. It doesn't sound medically legit. Besides, who on earth would want to go thru that on purpose?

Never heard of it before now. From what you've said, my standpoint is that these people are highly and dangerously uninformed.

Used to be anorexic when I was 17. Just like being an addict, you will always be in recovery. How stupid is this pro-an? OMG, that is ludicrous.

The KKK has a bunch of websites that view white supremacy in a positive light, considering it a "lifestyle choice" rather than a form of hatred, but that doesn't make any less frightening.

Gross. I was in rehab with a bunch of anorexic girls, and let me tell you- they did not CHOOSE to be anorexic. Anorexia is a disease just like addiction, only it's not with drugs, it's with food. I know people who say doing drugs is a lifestyle- fine. But it's one that most of society (the smart half, at least) does not condone.

This is very dangerous. To glorify such a dangerous disease! This is what Anorexia looks like. Oh so sad! :(
