All of the old George Romero movies were shot nearby me in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Night of the Living Dead
Martin
Season of the Witch
The Crazies
There's Always Vanilla
Dawn of the Dead (1979)
Knightriders
Two Evil Eyes

Also the 1990 remake Night of the Living Dead was shot nearby.

Actually a lot of movis have scenes shot in Pittsburgh. Hollywood wants that gritty industrial look I guess.

The Deer Hunter was also shot in a little Ohio coal mining/ steel mill town a few miles away from me.

Let me stick with movies made in my city. Too many made in my state to name. Here are some of the more notable ones:

Vision Quest [much of it filmed at the high school I attended ten years later] (1985)
Benny & Joon (1993)
Smoke Signals (1998)
Hangman's Curse [again, much of it was filmed at the high school I attended] (2003)
End Game (2005)
Mozart And The Whale (2005)

David Cronenberg's 'A History of Violence' was filmed right infront of my house. I said a brief hello (shouting from my house to the road they all waved :D) to Viggo Mortensen, Ed Harris and David Cronenberg. :D

I wish I could have gotten Viggo to sign LOTR 1-3 and Cronenberg to sign 'Naked Lunch' and I wish I could have gotten to talk to Ed Harris about working with Bob Dylan on 'Masked and Annonymous'...

We'd be here for the next month or two or three... just listing them.

Especially with the "shot in part, or completely" addition. Even if a film is shot elsewhere, it is not all that unusual for some scenes to be shot here.

I work for an advertising company. We shot the bulk of a commercial in England. Then the weather got bad. They finished up in Malibu. Heh! My question... Why did we give that business to another country? Don't we have production companies and locations aplenty right here in L.A.? :o

North was filmed in my hometown in New Jersey. We hope to God that no one reminds us of that.

Welcome To the Dollhouse was also filmed in my hometown. That's a better movie. Unfortuantely, it's a pretty accurate depiction of life in the New Jersey suburbs. :wallbang
