in the episode "The investigation."

1. When JJ starts talking into the lamp, James screams at him at the top of his lungs. That's the loudest I ever heard Amos get on the show.

2. At the end when JJ get a new job at the rib shack and puts on that silly hat, Florida is laughing and when they start to fade to black, she puts on a sort of disgusted face.

You know, that is when I think JJ is really really funny. Talking to that lamp, singing patriotic songs, constantly having that worried look on his face when his dad talks crap abt the FBI...those were hilarious to me

I thought J.J singing to the lamp was a hoot. I also howled when the rich-no-more cousins came for dinner and J.J. kept opening and closing the bar.

Did Amos and Rolle have a problem with Walker in real life?

I didn't notice Amos because I was so focused on Esther's look.

I couldn't notice Rolle's because irt went black. I did notice Amos face expression. Like my mom said, Only a ****** would walk through the street with a Chicken bouncing on top of his head-lol

Side Note: After the ep with J.J getting a new job at thr Rib Shack, Both Esther Rolle and John Amos was not in the next episode

I've often wondered if their frustration was the way JJ's character acted or if it was because he stole the show and got better lines at times.

From the look on Amos and Rolle's faces in "The Investigation," it was him acting so silly.

Maybe they were told to look frustrated at JJ's antics by the director, since the family was frustrated at the possibility that the FBI was snooping around. Just my opinion.

That's always a possibility, but knowing what we know about how they felt about the JJ character, it really wasn't too much "acting" involved.
