So what does everyone here think of the news that Jessica Alba is being cast as Jeannie and that Jimmy Fallon is being cast as Tony Nelson in the new IDOJ movie? Originally, Kate Hudson was cast as Jeannie and I thought that that was a good choice, but now I think Jessica Alba might be just as good or even better. As for Jimmy Fallon, I don't know - that might be a weak choice. It should be interesting to see how they cast the rest of the movie.

They probably should have stuck with Kate Hudson because she has done some comedy before.

I don't think they should make a movie version at all. Enough with the remakes. "Bewitched" with Nicole Kidman bombed big time.

According to the gossip pages in today's paper, Jessica Alba is not going to be in the I Dream Of Jeanie movie.

I loved Jessica Alba in the series DARK ANGEL and (although many comic book
fans disagree) thought she did a good job as Sue Storm in THE FANTASTIC
FOUR. I don't think she has done comedy before, but I do think she is one of
the most underrated actresses in the business today. Having said all that, I
don't generally like movie remakes of classic TV shows (I had planned to see
Nicole Kidman in BEWITCHED but later heard that it bombed.) I do think that
Hollywood has gotten carried away with the remakes. Someone quipped:
"What's left (to remake)? THE HUNTLEY-BRINKLEY REPORT?"

Jessica Alba might be sexy, but I just don't equate laughs with her.

IMDB.COM has said that the entire project has been "shoved back into the bottle". The only one still listed with the project is Jimmy Fallon.

Personally, if they don't make the movie at all, I won't mind.

BTW, Larry Hagman's website said he's been filming the interviews and commentaries for the upcoming release of IDOJ DVD's, so maybe they won't wait for the movie-that-never-will-be.

Nobody could ever be Jeannie except Barbara. Nobody could ever be Major Nelson and Major Healey except Larry Hagman and Bill Daily (though Wayne Rogers tried, he FLUNKED ... my opinion).

I've said it hear before, and I'll repeat it now: Two actresses that are talented enough (and hot enough) to play Jeannie are Katherine Heigl and Kirsten Storms.

Two more reasons are here. Besides, Katherine Heigl wore one sharp ponytail on Roswell.

I'm afraid Sony hasn't quite learned its lesson with "BEWITCHED". If they insist on a new "Jeannie", they're not going to get what they THINK they want. Sidney Sheldon did NOT cast the original 'Jeannie' on star or sex appeal: he chose the one who wasn't supposed to BE a "sex symbol", and
that was Barbara Eden. Most everyone agrees (including her) that Jeannie was sexy without BEING sexy {or TRYING to be}--and that's the first mistake the producers of the new movie are going to make if they cast someone like Jessica Alba as 'Jeannie'. As for 'Tony Nelson', you have to cast a "straight man" like Larry Hagman who can react to what's happening around him (and have SOME comedic talent on the side) and make the plot believable: Jimmy Fallon is NOT that man [as 'Roger'? Certainly..but NOT 'Tony'!!]. And finally, will the writers remember Sheldon's opinion that having a beautiful genie by your side (no matter how beautiful and helpful she may appear to be) is not the best situation in the world if that genie thinks SHE knows what's best for you, whether you're "Master" or not?
I don't think so.

Here are good reasons. Now imagine her in the Jeannie costume.

Personally, I think this movie is super-likely to bomb, so, I'd nominate Jessica Lange, whos career has hit the tank already and who wont be any worse off when this thing goes into the toilet!

...I tried to make a valid point and 'Ohio8' posts pictures of Scarlett Johansson in a BIKINI and writes, "imagine HER in the Jeannie costume".
Didn't you READ...? That's the same kind of Hollywood thinking that's going to doom any attempted "Jeannie" remake!! Not to say that Scarlett doesn't have a sexy body, but I SAID....oh, never mind!!!
