Hey everybody! I'm just wondering out of these five shows which one you would recommend for me to get on DVD. I haven't really seen any of them though.

Sex And The City
Desperate Housewives
Veronica Mars
Charmed
The O.C.

I'd like to try them all. I am leaning towards Sex, Mars and Charmed so far.
Thanks!

Sex will be going into five-day syndication in a month, so you can check it out on there. Charmed is also airing on TNT every day.

The OC is the one choice listed I like the least. You might want to check Charmed out first since you like Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

IMO, you can't go wrong with the choices of Sex, Charmed or Housewives. Mars looks good from the episodes I've seen too.

Yes I will definetly be checking out Sex in syndication this fall. I have TNT, but the thing about watching an ep or two of Charmed is that its confusing since I have never seen it and it also may spoil the series. Veronica Mars seems like the most likley choice though. I really want to see Alyson Hannigan's episode :) . Since I can see Charmed and Sex in syndication I will try to watch them a bit to see if I like them. The O.C. is officially off the list now!
:thanx: BuffySlayer!!!

I'd recommened either Veronica Mars or Desperate Housewives because I like both of those shows and plan on buying those sets myself. I wouldn't recommend Sex and The City because HBO dvd prices are too damn high. I can't speak on the others because, like you, I haven't seen them.

even though the box set is going to be insane. The S&TC seperate discs aren't too bad considering HBO. Retail is $50 but you can find them $30 at Wal-Mart and Target, so basically you're getting them about the same price as Friends or Everybody Loves Raymond.

or Everybody Loves Raymond.

I don't know if you're a fan of the show and would already know this or not, but...Everybody Loves Raymond *IS* technically HBO (The "HBO Video" animation comes up at the start of EVERY disc, and there's an HBO closing logo at the end of every episode)

I'm aware of this, but the fact that it's not an HBO Channel series keeps HBO from really price-gouging it. I'm sure if it aired on HBO and not CBS, the sets would be in the $99 range since they're full-length seasons (the longest Sex seasons were 18 episodes)

although missing from your list, I'd suggest Angel. IMO it is a far inferior series to Buffy but as a BTVS fan, you will likely enjoy it as well. Besides season 3, all of the seasons have Buffy crossovers, and Spike moves over to Angel in the fifth season following his death on Buffy.

Yes I plan on getting Angel definetly, but am just waiting for a complete series boxed set like Buffy because it's way cheaper than buying them individually.

"Veronica Mars" was one of the best new shows of last season. I highly reccommend that show.

if you have a Target or Wal-Mart in Canada, they have all the Sex And The City sets for $29.99 a pop here, $20 off the retail price. Likely the best deal you'll ever find on HBO shows, even tho I personally am waiting for the day Six Feet Under is dropped from $99.99 to $49.99 or $59.99 (if they dropped Queer As Folk from $120 to $50, why the hell not?), after the series finale, I really wanna relive all 5 seasons again.
