Cute pets! ;)

Here's a photo of my sister's small Mexican water turtle. Can't remember what kind it is, but we think it's a "she." Her name is Pebbles. She's the ONLY living animal at the moment:

AWWWW!!! Kitties everywhere! Hehe. :D

And a turtle, too!! I used to have three pet turtles, but then my dad gave them away 'cause they stunk up the whole house. :(

I also used to have a pet duckling, Lucky. He died, tho, falling off a table. :crying:

Kylie and the cat. He still doesn't really have a name. I've been calling him Ernie for the last few days, though.

Not only do I have allergies (used to be HIGHLY allergic to cats specifically as a child), but also had childhood asthma. Was on allergy injections for 18 years and they did absolutely no good. Bought a pussycat, built up my own resistence and the rest is history!

I am very popular with vacuum cleaner manufacturers on both sides of the border though! ;) We should be the testing ground for new models!!

Yeah - I knew I'd shock you guys by posting. And I'm holding back too - if I ever got going on my other pets that have passed on this thread would never end! (I think I counted once and figured I or my parents combined have owned around 72 cats in my lifetime....no - not all at once - the 5 I currently have is the most at any one time - with the exception of a couple of litters of kittens). :D

Tripperfan, I too am severly asthmatic and therefore am allergic to cats and dogs. But poodles are great. They are hypo-allergenic! LOL! They hardly shed or anything! I didn't want to go through with the allergy shots, although my Dr. keeps urging me to do so...I'm a little weary about them.

Yes - you're quite right! So are a few other breeds like Chinese Crested, Wheaton Terriers (and they're adorable - I want one!), I think Schnauzers are too. Its not so much the shedding (although that can be really irritating), apparently its the saliva - and then they lick their coats.

Unless, your allergies are really holding you back, I would try to hold off on the shots. Like I said - I was one them TWICE a week for about 7 years, then once a week. All it is, is a small amount of what you're allergic to, injected into you so you build up a tolerance. When I was 5, I was REALLY bad and the doctor told my mom to get rid of the cat. We never did, and I ended up building my own tolerance to them just like the shots would have done.

A few years ago, my husband's allergies got quite bad - had all the tests and the doctor tried like crazy to get him to take shots - he refused, and he's symptoms totally disappeared in six months on their own.

The shots are expensive, overrated and hurt! And I've yet to hear of anyone who they've really helped. You're right in being wary of them.

Must you humans name everything? Nothings real to you until you've named it, given it limits.

Yeah, I'm capable of dealing with my allergies with simple medication and such. I don't think that shots are that good of an idea for me, because like you said, I would be coming in weekly for years, and it would be quite expensive. I'm fine the way I am. Allergies aren't pleasant, but I don't think it's really holding me back. I've lived with them for so long...
