I was watching the episode "Jack Moves Out" and saw in the closing credits that he was the policeman.He was halarious

Policeman:The question isn't why you broke in,it's why did you break out?

Jack:Well I moved into another apartment and the woman there tried to take advantage of me

Policeman: (sarcastically)Aww poor baby

That episode is on Three's Company: The Complete Third Season disc #4.
I love that episode. Especially John. *Both* of them.

And this was shortly after Black Sheep Squadron ended its 2-season run, right? BTW, didn't John Larroquette also starred on that show as well?
