I agree with Cleveland Amory about the Jeffersons Theme, it was AWFUL-lol Good Times theme was nothing special either. But, both Good Shows

I always thought both Good Times and The Jeffersons were 2 of the best sitcom themes of all time. I wish more of today's sitcoms would follow their lead instead of having bumper music as their theme.

I always liked the themes to shows in the 70s, especially Maude, GT and Sanford & Son. They had a style ALL their own. No commercial carbon copies.

I really like all of the Lear theme songs . . . and the closing theme songs. As for Good Times, I like the closing one better than the opening one, especially after watching a really good episode.

The theme song is good and I agree that it's not as good as "The Jeffersons," but I wouldn't put it in second place. I think "Amen" is my number two.

I love the Good Times theme. Like Tap Dancer said, the Amen theme is awesome, too (it was written by gospel singer/songwriter Andrae Crouch). :cool:

The 1970's was a great era of TV themes (sadly one we'll never see again, by the looks of it) and my vote goes to "Rhoda" for best theme song - which changed the instrumentals each of it's five seasons (Season 4 and 5 are tied for the best). The theme from "Phyllis" is a close second and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" would place third for me.
