For those of you who remember the UM segment about the murder of Joyce McLain, this month marks the 25th anniversary of her death. She was the 16-year-old resident of East Millinocket, Maine who was found dead in the woods near a soccer field in August of 1980.

I discovered some new articles about the murder (which are at the links above), acknowledging the fact that it has been 25 years since the murder. One of the articles also mentions the fact that the case was presented on UM in 1989. In addition, it focuses on Joyce's mother, Pam McLain, has been coping with the loss for as long as she has been.

Interesting articles. I would love to see that one solved, but I would be shocked if it ever is.

Admittedly, it looks as though will take a miracle to solve this case. Naturally, there is the common fear that a murder would forever go unsolved. But I take some level of comfort in knowing that there have been tough cases that were eventually solved (even cases that were unsolved longer than Joyce McLain's murder). The advances of forensic technology were definitely a contributing factor. Otherwise, numerous solved cases might still have been unsolved today.
