I swear there were episodes of the BOB NEWHART show where Peter Bonerz (Jerry) played a psychologist, NOT a dentist. Am I nuts? I can't find anything about it in the episode guides...

I wouldn't say you're nuts. You have simply made an error. Jerry was always an orthodontist.

Actually, you're both right! On the pilot episode, Jerry *was* a psychiatrist. He switched to teeth work on the regular episodes.

BTW, anyone else seen the pilot? It's a little odd -- no Howard, a lot different dynamic between Bob and Emily.

WOW! I have no recollection of that and I've seen all the episodes. (Jerry the Psychologist?) Are you sure about this? Was Bob also a psychologist in the pilot?

If you are referring to the show P-I-L-O-T (Episode 9?), I have have this on tape and Jerry is not in it as a Psychologist. Maybe this was cut out for syndication.

The original idea WAS that Jerry was also a psychologist, so this is possible it was in the pilot. It is also correct that there is no Howard Borden in this episode.

Perhaps there are two pilots?

Anybody with more info, please help.

I just thought of something, Jerry the Psychiatrist, sounds kind of like Larry the Psychiatrist, which is a character Bill Daily played on ALF. :happyface
