View Full Version : Post your all-time favorite episode here TJ 02-15-2000, 11:08 PM What is your all-time favorite episode of The Bob Newhart Show and why? MARFAR104 04-10-2001, 02:45 PM THE SHOW IN WHICH BOB ALMOST FALLS DOWN THE ELEVATOR SHAFT. HE WAS REALLY AFRAID OF ELEVATORS AFTER THAT! OR OF DYING, MAYBE. AND THE "MAN IN BLACK" BIT WAS HYSTERICAL! MsLulu 07-30-2001, 01:28 AM There were so many great episodes. But I think one of my favorites is when Bob, Mr. Carlin, Howard and Jerry spend Thanksgiving together. They get drunk, try to cook a turkey and end up ordering chinese. LucyFan 10-06-2001, 07:20 PM My all-time favorite episode of "The Bob Newhart Show" is episode #55 entitled "Dr Ryan's Express". The episode was about a nutty secretary filling in for Carol at the office. Jack 1000 10-08-2001, 02:21 AM Hahahahaha!!! Any of the episodes with Debbie are classics!!! (She reminds me a receptionist I know at my Dr's office!) She's not quite that looney but she looks EXACTLY like Debbie! Some of my favorite Debbie scenes: Debbie: "Dr Robinson (to Jerry), these typewriter keys don't work." Jerry: "See Debbie, that's an electric typewriter, you have to turn in it on." Debbie: "Of course!! (Rummaging through her things), where did I put my brain this morning!!" *********************** Bob: "Debbie, can you read that back to me please?" Debbie: "Best of luck on your future career, signed Debbie Flett" Bob: "Debbie, no no, sign my name." Debbie: "OK Dr, Ryan!" Bob: "And when you sign Dr. Ryan, could you spell it H-A-R-T-L-E-Y? Debbie: "Why?" Bob: " Oh that's how we spelled it in the old country." (Dr. Newman comes in, and tells Debbie he is expected a package, Debbie starts to write down what he says and stops.) Dr. Newman: "Debbie, I'm expecting a very important package and I....(Debbie interrupts) Debbie: "Do you want me to read it back to you?" Dr. Newman: "Debbie, what we are having is called a conversation, you don't have to write this down!" Debbie: "Fine, Dr. Phillips." Dr. Newman:, "Debbie I am NOT Dr. Phillips!" Debbie: Oh! You don't have to apoligize! Dr. Newman: "Debbie, have you been sending back bottles of scotch addressed to a Dr. Newman? Debbie: "I certainly have! No Dr. Newman on our floor!" Dr. Newman: "I'M DR. NEWMAN, N-E-W-M-A-N! Debbie: "Oh! You must be from the old country too!" Scoobiedoo30 07-09-2007, 03:21 PM The Christmas Episode catlover79 09-20-2007, 01:09 AM The Debbie episodes are a riot - Debbie reminds me of a co-worker who is almost as scatterbrained as the temporary secretary. The Christmas episode where Bob is snowed in at the medical building is a favorite of mine - it just highlights the deep love between the Hartleys. Another great Christmas episode is when Bob needs his tonsils removed and has to spend Christmas in the hospital ("WATER! Bring WATER!"). Almost any episode centered on the group makes for classic comedy (Mutiny on the Hartley, Battle of the Groups, etc). My personal favorites are from the 4th season. I LOVE Over the River & Through the Woods (someone should run it back to back on Thanksgiving Day with WKRP's Turkeys Away), the Peeper episodes, Change is Gonna Do Me Good...I could go on and on. CLASSIC comedy!! CAJeannieFan57 09-22-2007, 11:37 AM I was fortunate - when TV Land ran the 8 episodes on the 10th, I got many of my favorites - Blues for Mr Borden, Sorry Wrong Mother, Over the River and Through the Woods, Ex Con Job. Other favorites - An American Family, Big Brother is Watching, A Love Story. There are a few in season 5 and 6 that I like....can't wait for Fox to change their minds and put the DVDs out for those! catlover79 09-22-2007, 11:40 AM I've never seen the episodes from Seasons 5 & 6...so I too hope Fox will reconsider and release the last 2 seasons!! It's terrific to see you back on the board, Donna. I DID send Mr. Daily a birthday card! :D I hope he enjoyed all the cards the fans sent in. CAJeannieFan57 09-25-2007, 11:10 PM You'll find me in and out - school's back in session and I got busy. I have a busy weekend coming up, though - going to see Larry Hagman in a one-man show up in Cerritos! Look for a report on that, next week. (Oops, I'm in the Newhart message board. Okay, Hagman, Daily....related, right???? Grin) catlover79 11-20-2007, 01:53 PM I've been watching many of the episodes the past few days - especially the "moo goo goo" episode!! It truly was an underrated show - so many great episodes!! :D |
