View Full Version : Spinoff idea you think would have worked? GeorgiaboyJeff! 08-22-2005, 09:39 AM Personally I thought a Pam,Charmaine & Lance spin-off after the Cosby show ended could have been interesting if done right & the writing was good. PrettyinPink55 08-22-2005, 10:13 AM D. none of the above. Wildchats 08-22-2005, 12:53 PM The only ones I can think of are when kids move out. Vanessa in College with Dabnis...possibly having their own apartment there, and having neighbors that are good friends down the hall...sorta like the Jeffersons and after Cosby Show ended. Sondra and Elvin and the kids when they got their own place and after Cosby show ended. Lance, Charmaine and Pam getting a place, sorta like threes company after the Cosby show ended. Theo as a school teacher and making new relationships with classmates/ teachers. I think these would have been the only way to spin the show off. However, They would fail big time and not last more than one season. If I had to choose one spinoff it would be Theo to spin off, because his character was actually going somewhere in the final season with teaching and meeting new and interesting people through it. Vanessa was just in college and Sondra and Elvin were losers most of the time, as was Pam. Theo and Rudy were always the most popular kids next to Denise and then Vanessa, but Rudy cannot have a spinoff because she's still young. jamesanthony 08-22-2005, 01:18 PM The only ones I can think of are when kids move out. The bottom line is that Malcolm was good in Cosby Show but poor as a leading character. I'm still looking for that show Brian Damage 08-22-2005, 07:54 PM I'm still looking for that show It wasn't that good. TVFactFan 08-22-2005, 08:03 PM It wasn't that good. I'm sure I won't like it but You know being a TVcollector I would love to obatin a rare show like that. I'm just surprised that I don;t remember this show because I was senior in Highschool during the fall of 92. barwars 08-22-2005, 10:26 PM I'm sure I won't like it but You know being a TVcollector I would love to obatin a rare show like that. Anyways, a Theo spinoff would've worked best, if he were given an ensemble to work with. jamesanthony 08-23-2005, 04:04 PM Damn Solomon, you're an old man. I'll be a senior in a few weeks. Actually, except perhaps for Erika Alexander none of those children could carry a series. Lisa Bonet sleepwalked her way through Different World. barwars 08-23-2005, 04:39 PM I don't know about that. Malcolm was in other series, but they weren't very successful because he will always be remembered as Theo Huxtable. If people could continue to watch him play the Theo character, I think they would watch. A Different World could have moved to the 8:00 timeslot while "Theo" or whatever the show would be called would air at 8:30. jamesanthony 08-23-2005, 04:57 PM Raven doesn't seem to have any problem carrying That's So Raven. I forgot about Raven Symone because it is more a kid's show unlike Cosby which was written to appeal to anyone. Any ideas on what kind of premise Theo could find himself in? I think they were right to have him play a different character in Here and Now to avoid comparisons and make people wonder if and when the Cosby characters would show up. There isn't anything really wrong with Here and Now's basic idea, but from what I rememeber it was a dull series. S Ephata Merkeson from Law and Order was in it and she is a decent actor and the guy who played the uncle wasn't a bad actor either, so it wasn't lack of acting talent. Malcolm just isn't a compelling leading man and the stories were cliched and the writing was so so. barwars 08-23-2005, 05:02 PM I forgot about Raven Symone because it is more a kid's show unlike Cosby which was written to appeal to anyone. I think they should have had Theo moving to another city, where he would teach in an inner-city school. Crossovers with TCS would be minimal with the show set in another city, maybe only one appearance a year. Maybe have Theo get involved with another teacher at the school, have a little competition with another male teacher, and have a principal who doesn't agree with his teaching method, but realizes that he is getting across to the kids. Sort of "Steve Harvey Show"-esque. |
