For easier access of the news I post, I will post it on the SitcomsOnline.com News Blog.

Visit SitcomsOnline.com's main page and click on News Blog on the left navigation bar or you can directly go there here: http://sitcomsonline.blogspot.com

I will be updating that blog daily (depends on if I have anything major or not). Check out the first post for details on what it will consist of. I hope everyone likes it and thinks it will be easier to access information, news and schedules.

Let the blog officially begin!

Sounds awesome, Pavs!

Question, though. Will you still post schedules and marathon info here on the boards?

I will still post everything here. I will probably just link the important news there. Basically the blog is created for easier access to the news. But for sure everything will be on the message boards. It's good promotion for the boards, too, lol.

Pavan,
I like this idea a lot. The first thing I always do when coming to this website is look at all your posts to make sure I don't miss any news. This will make that even easier.

Seat Supporting Drama Actress is "clearly the weakest category?" Here are some of the accomplishments from the actors in this "weak" category:

CCH Pounder – 3 Emmy nominations, 5 Image nominations

Tyne Daly – 16 emmy noms including 6 wins, 5 Golden Globe noms, 2 SAG noms

Stockard Channing – 10 SAG noms including 2 wins, 1 People's Choice award, 1 Oscar nom, 1 National Board of Review Award, 1 London Circle Critics Film Award, 3 GG noms, 13 Emmy noms including 2 wins

Sandra Oh – 3 Acting award wins at film festivals (Milan, Torino, Vancouver), 3 acting awards from film critics societies (Boston, Broadcast Film, Phoenix), 1 SAG win, 2 Genies (Canada), 1 Gemini (Canada) nom

Blythe Danner – 4 Emmy noms (3 from this year alone!), one GG nom, two Cable Ace noms, one Tony win

Seems like this could be the most accomplished group of actors in any category this year!

Those are good points, but still that does not mean they had good years this year. While this is the last year of Daly for Judging Amy, it'll probably her who will win. Stockard Channing was not as good as she was in the past on the West Wing. Of those listed, Pounder has probably had the best year. Remember, what I meant was for their performances in their respected shows in the past year, not their careers.

I know what you mean about none of them having a particularly outstanding year, Pavan. But I'm much more excited to see these pros go at it than I am to see the housewives duke it out.

I think I'm just cranky because Desperate Housewives was nominated for the comedy categories, which meant that -- in my opinion -- actual comedic performances are not being nominated. I appreciate the comedic moments of the show, but it's at least 2/3 drama, and that's how I think it should have been categorized.

Comedy has a difficult enough time getting respect without it being taken over like this. As it is, many of the Emmy reels for comedic performances end up showcasing an actor's dramatic moments just as much as the comedic moments -- as if to say that an excellent comedic performance just isn't good enough; it has to be dramatic as well if it's to worthy of an award. In the drama categories, it's not necessary for the performance to have comedic elements.

As I see it, Marc Cherry asked for DH to be put in the comedy category simply because he thought they'd have a better chance of sweeping. Even he knows that the comedic elements of the show would decrease it's chance of winning against more serious shows in the drama category.

It's worse at the Oscars where comedies and comedic performances get almost no respect at all.

Sorry about the long, rambling post...

if DH wasn't worthy of being nominated in the Comedy catagory, then we probably would've seen shows like Yes Dear and Joey in the catagory. DH was THE show of the 2004-2005 season.

If I recall, weren't Ally McBeal and Sex And The City winners in the Comedy catagory in the past? Those shows were same catagory as Desperate Housewives. People always associate sitcoms as 30 minutes long, shot live and with a laugh track to count. DH's comedic moments certainly made me laugh and that's what a comedy is supposed to be.

I guess this belongs in the news blog: ratings for September 22, 2005.

Big Winner: Everybody Hates Chris (7.6 million viewers, 3.2 rating in adults)
Big Loser: Joey (7.6 million, 3.0 rating in adults)

So when will "Joey" be canned?

As for "Raymond"s win, the consensus seems to be that it won more as a last honour for 9 solid seasons. DH should have taken the award.

Not much difference between the two, why are you so eager for Joey to be canned? I think it will have a full season, then they'll decide to renew it

Not really eager. I've seen the show and kind of liked it, but what interests me is the network decisions behind all of this. There was a collective groan last May when NBC decided to leave the Thursday night line-up in tact, and that decision is now bearing rotten fruit. There isn't much difference between the two numbers, you're right, but the big difference is that Joey is on NBC and Chris is on the UPN. That's a HUGE difference.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few months, especially considering the hit that "The Apprentice" (9.8 million) and "ER" (14.1 million- both series lows) also took last night. NBC's really dug itself into a whole on Thursdays and especially with its sitcoms.

I really don't want to turn into network ratings for the blog, but I think every Friday or Saturday I'll discuss the week's ratings. Blog is updated with great rare stats for the week, check it out!
