Have you ever loved a product and for whatever reason was discontinued and taken off the market? Either that, or it is almost impossible to find nowadays.

I use to really like Crystal Pepsi, but I guess it didn't sell very well and they stopped making it.

Taco Bell used to have these big tacos called Taco Bell Grandes. I would get them all the time. They had lettuce, tomatos, black olives and sour cream on them but for some reason they discontinued them in the early 90's.

I also used to love Fresh in Up gum. The pieces were square shaped with liquid centers. No idea why they got rid of that either.
I haven't seen Bubs Daddy gum or Jolly Rancher sticks in a long time either.

Also Towne Club soda. I'm not sure if that was a nationwide thing or just a Michigan thing. They had this big warehouse type building with a bunch of different flavors of soda in glass bottles and you could go there and fill up a box with whatever flavors you wanted. When you finished all the pop you brought back the emply bottles for a refund and filled the box up again.

I can't remember the cereal company but back in the 80's I absolutely loved Cracker Jack cereal. It has disappeared. Also in the early 70'sthere was a cereal that I loved. It was a granola cereal(maybe put out by Quaker Oats) but I cannot remember the exact name of it! It was so yummy!

I remember Taco Bell carried their own fries back in the early to mid 90's....they weren't Nathan's. They came in a large box and were topped with cheese and scallions :liplick: These things were sooo good.

I'm sure there's more stuff I'll recall later :D

I've been taking Tylenol gelcaps for probably 20 years. I get a medium sized headache everyday and two Tylenol does the trick. Nothing else works. This year, I couldn't find it anywhere, so I sent an e:mail to Tylenol, and it was discontinued...just the gelcaps. So I had to switch to another kind, but I don't like it.

I've had shades of lipstick discontinued many times.

I wore the same style of bra for about a decade, lol. I couldn't find it anymore about three years ago. That was traumatic. omg:

Nope - none of the mix either!!! Its a conspiracy!!!

Also - they discontinued "soup crackers" here like 30 years ago - don't know why - love them. I think they're also called "oyster crackers" in the U.S. Basically pillow like puffed saltines you toss into soup - don't get the mushiness the same as you do crushing crackers.

Yup! The crazy thing is that they don't taste fishy or anything like that - don't know why they don't just call them soup crackers still since they just taste like plain saltines. A guy I knew used to come up from our Cleveland office loaded down with a briefcase full for me!! I'd send him home with "Eat More" bars for one of the gals in his office (she came from Toronto and missed them).

Wow, this thread is sparking my memory! I remember the Orbitz drink as well(those little gel suckers felt weird going down!), ice cream cones cereal, and the Disney shaped ice pops.

Do you guys remember when they made marshmallows in all different colors? I remember jumbo marshmallows being sold in pink, green, yellow...or I may just be remembering wrong....lol. I swear to god I remember this, though.

Also, there used to be a hot cereal out on the market where you mixed in your own strawberry jelly that came in the box. YUM, that stuff was good...

Hmm...what else? Do they still sell Flinstones vitamins? I used to love taking those.

cereals like Strawberry Honeycomb. Nobody remember this. People think I am crazy. It was out in the mid-80s.
OJs, Mr.T, Waffalos, Smurfs, Rainbow brite, pac-man, these were all good tasting cereals.

Some stuff I liked/can't find anymore:

Donutz cereal (early 80's)

E.T. the movie character peanut butter cereal (this stuff was GOOD!!)

Kentucky Fried BBQ Chicken- the chicken bucket looked like a wooden barrel!

The extra large fish sandwiches from Burger King. They actually came in a long box. Now they are these cruddy little things just wrapped in paper.

The fried pies from McDonalds before they became baked. I loved the bubbly crust on them.

Newlywed ice cream rolls

O'Grady's Extra Thick cheese flavored potato chips. These were made by FritoLay in the 80's.

Taco flavored Doritos. I mean the original taco flavor from the 70's and 80's. Not the Taco Bell seasoning or whatever they use now.

Choco-Lite bars, Marathon bars, Icee, Pepsi Light lemon flavored pop from the 70's, Stewart's microwave sandwiches that were in almost every mini-market, Wonderoast chickens.

In the 90's, Dannon used to make yogurt that was packaged in square bowls. I forgot what they were called, but the yogurt was in one big bowl and the topping was in a smaller bowl in the same square...they had flavors like strawberry cheesecake and chocolate eclair. From the 70's, I miss beer shampoo... I believe it was made by the VO5 company.

And would someone please start a nationwide petition to get the Coca Cola company to put coke back into glass bottles? I know you can buy it in a few stores now, but it's really expensive (a 6 pack of 8 ounce bottles for $3.49!!!). Nothing tastes better than ice cold coke in a glass bottle...aaahhh..... And putting coke in a plastic bottle... well one sip of that and I just don't want to drink any more. I'd be more than happy to take my empty bottles back to the store to get a refund on a bottle deposit...

Finally, just until recently, I thought the facial scrub made Pernox that those of us who had acne in the 70's used, was no longer being manufacturered. But I found some in a Pennsylvania pharmacy... one of those stores that can get a hold of anything... but at a very expensive price. Of course now I don't need it... at 47 my acne is gone... though my son could use it!

One of my favorite candies when I was in school was Half and Half Jolly Rancher Mini-Sticks. There were four varieties; Watermelon/Strawberry, Lemon/Lime, Cherry/Vanilla and Pina Colada/Orange. I bought tons of them in the early-mid 90s and I remember around 1996 they stopped making them. It seems like everything I liked stopped between 1995-1998 (Blossom, Road to Avonlea, Murphy Brown, Crystal Pepsi, Chocolate Goldfish). It sucked!

Yes, I want Coke back in glass. I want everything back in glass. I want Mrs. Butterworth back in glass. It was bad when they made her body into plastic and now they only make half of her body in plastic. LOL. I want peanut butter , salad dressing, aspirin, orange juice, cranberry juice, and everything in now packed in plastic be packed back into glass. And I want that glass with metal lids too, no plastic. I want toothpaste in metal tubes that you can roll up as you use it. Anybody remember Crisco in dark brown glass bottles?

Ahem. Now that I have your undivided attention, remember when Dennis the Menace was Dairy Queen's mascot? I don't know when DQ adopted Dennis the Menace as their mascot, but he was the mascot when I was growing up...I believe they stopped using him as the mascot sometime in the mid-90's. When I was a little kid in the late 80's and early 90's, I remember my teacher taking my class or mom taking me and my siblings to DQ and I would order like...this dilly bar-like thing that was in the shape of Dennis the Menace's head. I believe they used dark-colored bubble gum for his eyes, and you could pick 'em off and save 'em for later. It was just a shaped ice cream bar...I have not had one in roughly 13-15 years. :( I miss 'em -- they were awesome! I also sorely miss the commercials that used to feature Dennis the Menace. Sigh...

I was pretty upset when they took Josta off the market. It was a new red soft drink that came out in 1996, or 1997. I actually saved my very first bottle, and still have it to this day, because I knew it probably wouldn't be around long.

I was also pretty upset when they took those candy cigarettes off the market. My brother and I use to pretend they were real cigarettes, and watch people's reaction to us smoking. They always had a shocked look on their face.

Marshmallow Alphabits cereal!! :( Suddenly within the past 6 months I cannot find this cereal ANYWHERE! At least here in Wisconsin. If anybody does see this cereal anywhere where they live- let me know!

But I have a feeling they discontinued it everywhere, because I saw a coupon ad for Alphabits and they only have a picture of the regular Alphabits now and they used to have a picture of both boxes. That was my favorite marshmallow cereal. I know there's Lucky Charms too, but that cereal has a totally different taste to me. (those 'mallows are more "fruity" tasting and I don't like that.)

I loved the following from my younger years:

Wendy's hot dogs, late 1980s: The bun consisted of a huge piece of bread that was buttered and toasted ... delicious!

The Burger Chef chain: The chain disappeared from the greater Cincinnati area circa 1981 (they became Hardee's), but according to some accounts at least one Burger Chef restaurant was still operating as late as 1996. There are quite a few Web sites out there dedicated to this old chain!

Slice soda: It was like Sprite, and it came in a few other flavors, like orange IIRC. It was in a green can with a similar font to Wal*Mart's "Sam's Choice" sodas. I remember when it debuted in early 1987, while in ninth grade! "We've got the juice!" was in the jingle, as well as "We've got what Sprite and 7-Up have missed!"

Teem soda: It was also like Sprite and disappeared in the mid-1980s.

Pizza O's: They were a pizza-flavored version of Spaghetti-O's from Franco-American (now Campbell's), which disappeared some time in the early-mid 1980s.

Zoo-Roni: a pasta from Chef Boyardee, and their jingle had some animals singing "Zoo-Roni, Zoo-Roni we munch!"

That's all I can think of right now.

There used to be "Jack in the Box" fast-food places here in New Mexico. I heard they were discontinued in the early 90s because they were having problems with "food poisoning" or something. Thats funny, because thats the exact same thing that has happened here. Hardees actually bought the Burger Chef chains so thats why they became Hardees. But the Hardees we had went under about 2 years ago, and has been vacant ever since. They need to put something in there. They were supposed to put an Arbys there.
I used to have some of them old Burger Chef and Jeff glasses they used to have too.

Nope - actually I was sure they're banned in most places here too. BUT - we have a store downtown called, Sugar Mountain (cool eh?) and it carries all the "old" kind of candies - even jaw breakers!! The originals. Only thing is that it kinda worries me HOW they get this stuff if its been off the market for years (unless it's made specially in small batches or something). You can even still get BlackCat bubble gum - the licorice stuff. They might also buy it over the internet and stock it - just easier picking it out and not worrying about shipping and all. Next time we're down in that area I'll try to check it out.

For all you Burger Chef fans:

A couple of weeks ago I decided to dine at Schroder's Drive-In in Danville, Illinois, which just so happened to be an old Burger Chef restaurant that has a LOT of the original decor intact, including a wall of awards during its Burger Chef days! Even the menus look like that of Burger Chef! The cups, napkins, etc. appear to be dated. I would guess the owners are doing their best to ensure that the food is like Burger Chef used to be. There is also a "fixins bar" if I'm not mistaken.

Getting there: The location is at 432 N. Gilbert Street (US 150/IL 1), right next door to a Marathon gas station on the west side of the street--follow Exit 215B from I-74 in case you want to go.

Personal note: I have a "Danville, Illinois, Things To Do & Places To Go" booklet from the Danville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, dated 1989. It still lists Burger Chef for 432 N. Gilbert Street, leading me to believe it was one of the last to go.

One thing I always liked were these things called Bagel Dogs. They(obviously) were hot dogs inside a bagel-type cocoon, and they were good!

Another was, and I forget what they called it exactly, but it was a Ben & Jerry's frozen yogurt made with chocolate frozen yogurt and it had raspberry swirled in it. I used to eat it all the time. And then they stopped making that flavor(of course!).

I know there were others, but those were the two that came to mind at the moment.

WondeRoast is still very much around. Check www.wonderoast.com for more.
