This case was shown today on Lifetime --- the man that was shot by an unknown psycho while driving at night. The driver bumped into the side of David's truck, and when they both got out, the freak shoots him!

OK, this was totally bizarre! It doesn't make any sense at all.

What does everyone think?

The offender probably had a narcisstic personality. He's never wrong, has to have the final word or action in this case. Probably extremely arrogant, uses phrases to describe himself.

the killer drove a gold honda prelude. If anyone has any knowledge of this car, or any car that was painted, they should contact law enforcement, because the color and make were quite rare. that is the key to solving the case.

I have been waiting to see this story on a rerun. Good thing I pulled myself out of bed in time to see even the preview. Last time I saw it was in its original era 12 years ago. I taped it(as well as the Tom Roche story) today.

It seems like the other driver deliberately rammed David as a means to get him to pull over and exit his truck, which would make it easier to shot him multiple times. Since the other motorist was carrying a gun it seems like he had the intention of killing someone all along, with no real motive. He seems very well to be a narcissist, maybe thinking that the world owes him lots of stuff simply for being who he is, and may even throw a temper if he simply THINKS someone looked at him the "wrong" way(maybe this was his motive, could road rage have been a factor?). I suspect he's not much different than that arrogant egotistical scumwad Adam Emory, and we all know how dispicable he was/is.

This case was repeated today. My feeling is that is was a road rage killing. The reenactment made it seem like the driver intentionally rammed David, but all Stack said was "a car came out of nowhere". It could have been a simple accident....perhaps.

However, that's still no reason to kill someone. The fact that the guy had a gun with him and used it so quickly says, to me at least that he has a violent personality and is quick tempered.

I think i was related to him. He was my Uncle until that idiot shot him.:(

The David Hurley case is especially scary; I think many of us long-time drivers have seen/experienced cases of road rage.

I suspect the killer in this case didn't necessarily intentionally hit David Hurley with his car; based on the segment, it could have occurred because the killer was an extremely careless driver (and/or was in an extreme hurry) - which caused the accident. Then, when Hurley got out of his car to exchange insurance info., the guy - enraged because he may have felt Hurley was at fault (even though he probably wasn't) ended up killing him.

Too bad they never found the guy. But, since this happened late at night on a road that didn't appear to have a lot of traffic at the time, it's not surprising that no one saw/heard anything. Also, I believe this happened in the era before video cameras/street cameras became prevalent.

I don’t think this case is even solvable at this point. It was pretty thin even at the time. The only real evidence is David’s unverified statement before he was taken to the hospital. The description of the car and driver are vague.

It’s surprising the guy even let David get away. Maybe he ran out of bullets by the time David got in the car. As unlikely as this encounter was, it’s even more incredible he had an avenue for escape, and the ability to escape.

I always wondered why he drove home, and not right to the hospital. Don’t know if that would have made a difference.

Yeah, I'm completely lost on that theory. A rest stop murder in Montana in 1985 and a car accident/road rage murder in Pennsylvania in 1992 have what in common exactly?

Since he was shot closer to his home than his brother's, he turned around and came back home to call for help. One thing I would've liked to have known was what, if anything, David saw the killer doing as he was driving away.

I just watched this on Pluto and question whether David was correct in saying the car was a Honda Prelude. That was a very distinctive car, but I'm reminded as a car nut how often witnesses, even police, are mistaken in correctly identifying vehicles in the heat of the moment (in the dark).

The one example that comes to mind is the murder of John Martin (Virginia police officer) who said David Wayne Mills was driving a large Buick from the late '70's. In reality, he had an early '80's Ford Thunderbird, which looks remarkably different.
