In the book Pretty in Pink: The Golden Age of Teenage Movies, author Jonathan Bernstein picked these 31 young 80's actors as the young hearttrobs of the decade. Who would you pick?

I would pick (an I'm sure everyone will find this as a surprise  ) Jami Gertz.
On page 43 while talking about The Lost Boys (1987), Bernstein called Jami the girl with "that lustrous gypsy tangle of hair and that impeccable bone structure" and I couldn't agree more. And at nearly 40 years of age she is still gorgeous.

I give an honorable mention to Jennifer Beals.

I'd go with Michael J. Fox, and Ralph Macchio. Justine, and Jason Bateman would be my third and fourth choice.

My vote went to Molly Ringwald, the ultimate 80s teen movie queen. I totally fell in love with her in that 80s-teen-angst trilogy, Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink...

One of my favourites is Judge Reinhold which appeared in the following 80s comedies: Fast Times at Ridgemont High ('82), Beverly Hills Cop ('84), Head Office ('85), Off Beat ('86) and Beverly Hills Cop II ('87).

Yeah I loved the Coreys, too - not to mention a lot of the others mentioned on the list, but I also went with Molly.

I'm not asking this to be mean, I'm just curious. What is it about Molly Ringwald that made her so popular?? Was it her relatability factor??

I vote for Tom Cruise... he's still the biggest star and it's already 2005!! Way to go Tom.

I think has to do relatability & something else.

Since my favorite wasn't on this I picked Anthony Michael Hall because he's my second favorite & i'm like his characters in certain ways at least in the John Hughes films. My favorite Michael J. Fox because I like his movies & TV show. Also because i am like him in some ways or at least the way he is in his movies.
