Who is your fav. Newhart character and why?????

My favorite characters are Stephanie and Micheal.

I liked Stephanie, but not Micheal, and I liked Kirk, but not Leslie.

My favorite characters are Larry, Darryl, and Darryl. I like Larry because of his ability to arrive on the scene and say the things we all would like to say but don't usually have the guts to say. I like Darryl because allthough they were silent they often spoke the loudest. Their use of facial expressions and simple hand gestures was nothing short of brilliant. Kudos to John Volstead and Tony Papenfuss. They should of won emmys!!!!!!:D

Stephanie! One of the best characters on any sitcom, ever. :) I completely agree that John Volstead and Tony Papenfuss were amazing, though. To be as hilarious as they were without ever saying a word (except for the last episode, of course) was truly an accomplishment.

They're all great! The only character that never really grew on me was Leslie. She was a sweet character and nothing against the actress who played her, but there was nothing really memorable about her.

NEWHART also had the best recurring roles... the librarian, the mayor, the police officer. Not to mention the TV producer who always said, "Whatever you say... Dick." All of them were hilarious!
