View Full Version : Thelma & Larry's Engagement
Ireneparalegal 08-17-2005, 07:07 PM I found it odd that Florida and James were inquiring alot abt Larry. You would think if Thelma had been dating him for awhile (she had to have if they engaged) she and Larry would have already met her parents and talked abt himself. I met my daughter's boyfriend and by the second time he was here, I already knew what job he had, his family life and his goals. I am assuming or guessing that Thelma and Larry had been going together at least 3-4 months. Notice James and Florida never said, "You hardly know him" or "You haven't been dating that long". JMO
Brian Damage 08-17-2005, 07:21 PM It just confused me the way Florida and James were acting. For crying out loud, she was only 17!!!! I would be damned if my daughter was engaged at 17.
Last night was the first time I saw that episode in years. After it ended, it didn't say "To be continued," what happened with that? Did they follow up with it?
Ireneparalegal 08-17-2005, 07:31 PM Yep. He gets a job offer in California and that's when the engagement is broken off.
Brian Damage 08-17-2005, 07:38 PM Thanks :)
nlearfan 08-17-2005, 08:15 PM That was almost as ridiculous as when Thelma is engaged to the 42-yr old bald man and realizes she doesn't love him. They stretched it a little. Well, actually a lot.

Yeah, that's kinda true, even JJ knew Larry pumped gas and James didn't.

Exactly. You got it. Sitcoms. LOL
Brian Damage 08-17-2005, 11:01 PM As protective as James and Florida were, they should've known that stuff.
Also, why did Florida accept Larry and a bit later when Thelma was older, she didn't accept Ibe?

Because Florida was worried abt the possibility of Thelma being in a marriage with a man who would take more than one wife.

True, but she against it before she knew that fact if I'm not mistaken.
Ireneparalegal 08-17-2005, 11:22 PM i can't quite decipher your response. Was Florida for or against Ibe? Actually, if I remember, Thelma wanted to move in with Ibe, not get married.
Brian Damage 08-18-2005, 12:09 AM I guess you are right. I think I am getting confuse.
