Just taking a poll on other shows that started to focus on one character more than the others or characters that were more popular on the show.
Family Matters - Steve Urkel
Happy Days - Fonzie
Family Ties - Alex Keaton
Full House - Michelle
Good Times - JJ
Step By Step - Cody
Both Family Matters and Happy Days paid much more attention to these characters to the point where some of the other characters were ignored.
Any other shows?

Any other shows?Yeah that damn little know it all on MY WIFE AND KIDS. I actually wrote to ABC telling them the reason the show HAD JUMPED THE SHARK was because of that little kid. You know which one, that little boy neighbor. I can't recall his character's name, and I don't want to know his name. But it was ridiculous how he was giving advice, especially love advice to the father. He was always around. I loved the little daughter on the show. They could have showcased her alot more without that damn kid around. Instead, they used him soooo much I couldn't help but describe him as the NEW URKEL. Thanx for letting me get that off my chest!!!!!

I know this isn't a sitcom, and probably most of you don't watch the show anymore because it's for kids, but Elmo seems to have taken over Sesame Street in a similar way. He started out 20 years ago in 1985 as a minor charachter and gradually moved his way up to the most popular charachter on that show. In 1998 they made half of the show Elmo's own segment called "Elmo's World" and most Sesame Street merchandise you see is all about Elmo and the other charachters have been pushed into the background. They also ended up getting rid of a lot of minor charachters because of Elmo.
I never watched Mad About You but I heard that when they had a baby named Mabel, that Mad About You became "Mad About Mabel".

I love Elmo and so does my son. It's actually abt 20 mins. of Elmo's World. What would make it better is if Sesame Street went back to being an hour and a half long. I think I recall it even being two hours. Am I wrong??? I could've sworn it was alot longer than an hour. Or did they just have episodes played back to back? I wish Kermit was shown alot more.

Kermit no longer appears on the show because Disney now has legal rights to that charachter and not Sesame Workshop.

That's strange. On Noggin (childrens channel) there is PLAY WITH ME SESAME and he makes appearances on that.
