Madonna breaks bones in riding accident
Singer suffers cracked ribs, broken collarbone, broken hand

Tuesday, August 16, 2005; Posted: 1:47 p.m. EDT (17:47 GMT)

NEW YORK (AP) -- Madonna's 47th birthday celebration was marred when she suffered several broken bones in a horse riding accident at her country home outside London, her publicist told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

The superstar was hospitalized with three cracked ribs, a broken collarbone and a broken hand, according to Liz Rosenberg, her spokeswoman based in New York.

The accident occurred Tuesday at Ashcombe house, her estate outside of London.

Madonna and an assistant were riding horses, when Madonna, on a new horse she wasn't accustomed to riding, took a tumble. Her children, Rocco and Lourdes, were at the home but were not with their mother at the time, Rosenberg said.

"The whole family was out in the country, celebrating her birthday," Rosenberg said.

Her husband, director Guy Ritchie, took Madonna to an undisclosed hospital, where she was treated. Rosenberg said the entertainer was expected to be released later in the evening.

your whole "Madonna sucks" routine is old. We get that you don't like her. It gets sick that every time the word Madonna pops up, we gotta hear your lecturing about how bad she sucks and how she's the epitome of everything that is wrong with music. Let the Madonna fans talk about her and stay out of it, like I don't bother the Clayniacs.

I am just sick of hearing how badly she sucks but how good folk crap is supposedly. CSN have recorded one song that I would actually consider listenable in their entire career. Yea, I THINK they suck, should my thoughts be taken as fact as the way you think that because you hate Madonna that her being no good is fact? And hell, Family, WHAT? the only Family to me is that group that Prince assembled in 1985.

check out the Music board. Every single time there's been a thread about Madonna, he's added his two cents about how horrible Madonna sucks and so forth. He's posted more about how much he hates Madonna than about any artist he likes. I've been a Madonna fan for twenty years and kinda hate that we're not allowed to talk about her without him ****ting over it.

well, for a lot of us who grew up in the 1980's, Madonna is in a way a maternal and a sisterly figure to us. She is a huge icon for us, the way Elvis was to 50's youth and Beatles were to 60's youth and Mariah is to many who grew up in the 90's. And it gets old seeing Steve bash somebody constantly who has meant the world to a lot of us.

It gets old when you constantly talk about him bashing Madonna, and yet he hasnt done it in this thread one bit. Are you sure that you grew up in the '80s? It sure seems like you're 12 or something. If you don't want to see him "bash" Madonna, don't click on the thread. It's as simple as that.

yes, I remember the 80's and everything was a hell of a lot better than they are now, if I was 12, I wouldn't even care about who Madonna is because 12 year olds don't remember when she was anything but some older lady who wrote childrens books and kissed Britney and is Kaballah obsessed. If I was 12, I'd be all obsessed with Britney and American Idol and Hilary Duff, Madonna would be way off the radar because I would've been about 7 when she had her last big hit song with Music.

Why should I ignore everything Madonna oriented so I won't read his anti-M scribblings? Fans of every other artist are able to talk in peace about them, why can't we? Madonna's one of the biggest icons in music history, she's earned the respect.

oh, he's said 1000's of things about how Madonna is the absolute worst thing to ever happen to music, and how her birth was one of the darkest moments in music history, and how she's horrible because 20 years ago she sang some cheesy pop songs. It goes on and on, I know Vashti has gotten on his case about how he takes it too far also.

well, I guess I sorta did, but I'm just used to seeing a post with the word "Madonna" in the subject and expecting him sooner or later to post the same bs about how she sucks and how he thinks he can convert people who've been fans 20 years to his way. So it was kinda sarcastic second nature to type that because I'm used to it

a friend replied to me over this and I looked back over it. I think you can buzz off for that comment directed towards me. Where do you get off telling me that, honestly? Just because you don't remember the 80's doesn't mean you can take it out on those of us who grew up then by telling us we didn't. I loved the 1980's, it was the best freaking time in the world to be a kid (IMO) and I don't see where you get off trying to challenge that. I merely pointed out that Madonna has a big sisterly/maternally type of feel to a lot of us who grew up when she reigned the charts and you started that on me. You were negative-four when my sister bought me "Madonna" on cassette, you are not in the place to tell me I wasn't.

A few questions...

1. When did I say that you didn't remember the '80s?
2. What am I "challenging"?
3. ...I started what on you?
4. Since when was -4 an age?
5. Wasn't what?
6. If you are so much older than I am, what are you doing arguing w/ me? Aren't you supposed to be "mature" or something?

Oh, I see. Groups that had the misfortune of issuing recordings that didn't get higher than #177 in America don't deserve any attention. Got it. Carry on.
