FOLrocks1 08-20-2005, 05:36 AM Well, this is a tough one since I'm a huge fan of both....But, I would have to go for Halloween on this one. Jamie Lee Curtis was awesome and the first movie was really good....scared the crap out of me when I was little. *MIBabe03* 08-20-2005, 09:43 AM Halloween for sure. Brian Damage 08-20-2005, 11:15 AM Halloween seventies_sitcoms 08-20-2005, 11:38 AM Halloween is the better out of the two I must say, but I've always enjoyed F13 a lot more while growing up because I live in a rural area pretty much like Crystal Lake territory. We have a lot of lakes and camps, plus it is just a really popular outdoorsy area anyhow. It was always fun making those ch-ch-ch-cha-cha- sounds or whatever they are and scaring the younger kids. :D Brian Damage 08-20-2005, 03:51 PM I liked the original F13 myself, but Halloween was very special. It was not your typical "slasher film." As a matter of fact, there wasn't any blood really shown. Dean Winchester 08-20-2005, 06:03 PM the first two Halloweens are the best. However, some of the Jason movies are so bad they're good, pt. 5 especially is a real camp classic, my friend Christine and I ALWAYS watch it and laugh whenever AMC airs it. There is too much hilarity in that movie for it's own good, from the Michael Jackson wannabe, to the hillbilly mother and son, to the Cyndi Lauper clone, to the fat guy who gets an axe to the back while eating chocolate, and so on and so on... Friday The 13th: A New Beginning ranks up there with the great comedies. At least with part 6 they tried to work some humor (purposly) into the script. It's a tough choice. I watched both franchises dozens of times over the years, but by a narrow margin I'll go with the Halloween films, although the last couple weren't that great. I'm not a big fan of what the late Gene Siskel called "the dead teenager movie" but I think the original Halloween and the original Friday The 13th are good movies. I also think Friday the 13th Part IV is pretty good. I don't watch them enough to have a favorite though. Dean Winchester 08-21-2005, 12:43 AM Yeah, Part 5 was a bit of a dud. I think Jason X gives part 5 a run for the money though. That was awful. pt. 5 is actually my fave of the entire series BECAUSE of how accidentally campy it is. The rednecks were great, too bad they died because I would've loved to have seen a movie with just them and Jason Dude111 12-17-2025, 08:32 PM I would also say Halloween but I love both! I have an early MEDIA release of Halloween (1979) and an early Friday the 13th release in 1980 (Paramount home video)) |
