Talking Book or Innervisions? I'm not sure of the original release dates but I
think they both came out within the space of 12 months in 1972 and '73. Two great albums. Up until today I would've automatically picked Innervisions, but I've been listening to Talking Book this morning and I'm starting to waver.

Talking Book
1. You Are The Sunshine Of My Life
2. Maybe Your Baby
3. You And I
4. Tuesday Heartbreak
5. You've Got It Bad Girl
6. Superstition
7. Big Brother
8. Blame It On The Sun
9. Lookin' For Another Pure Love
10. I Believe (When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever)

Innervisions
1. Too High
2. Visions
3. Living For The City
4. Golden Lady
5. Higher Ground
6. Jesus Children Of America
7. All In Love Is Fair
8. Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing
9. He's Misstra Know-It-All

They are both great albums.

But Innervisions is more to my liking- it is one of my all-time favorites.

Even beyond the hits of "Higher Ground" and "Living For The City" I actually find that "Golden Lady" and "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing" are my favorite songs.

"Too High" (very jazzy/funky) and "Visions" (beautiful, soulful) are also great.
"Jesus Children Of America" is just full of all great elements, funk, groove, gospel, and socially conscious lyrics.

"All Is Fair in Love" is a very good, sad song while "He's Misstra Know-It-All" is a fine closer to the album.

Innervisions is an excellent, brilliant album, imo. "Jesus Children of America", "Living For The City", "Too High", "Golden Lady" and "Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing" are my favorite selections.

For some reason, it has taken me years to fully get into Talking Book, but I've begun to understand why this might be his second best album.

I chose to close to call. I couldn't make up my mind. I own every album he ever made. Now I will have to listen to each one again tomorrow and decide if I still feel the same. :)

All in Love is Fair is one of my all time favorite.

Talking Book. I always loved "Superstition". So 70's. I hear it and makes me remember that time.

I also voted too close to call. It's interesting no one voted for Talking Book, so maybe I was right with how I felt about Innervisions all along. It was just that listening to Talking Book earlier, "Big Brother" and "You Got It Bad Girl", basically the whole album sounded as good as Innervisions for the first time. For me, Talking Book had always been in Innervisions' shadow but they're really both great albums.
