hello everyone Tv land just taped the last episode of Night court my thoughts it was good and sad espically with Bull going to jupiter at last scene and that was it i think they schould either had another seasen or renioun movie so we see what happend to Bull cant believe they send him off like that.what your thoughs no a better final for Night court.

The last episode was a very big disappointment but it was not the fault of the writers (although the whole ninth season was not as good as it could have been) or the staff involved with the show. Warner Brothers wanted to try to sell new episodes into syndication. As a result, the writers were not allowed to put a definite end to the show. ( A happily ever after if you will.) In any case the efforts to sell new episodes into syndication were unsuccessful and the cast did not find out that the show was cancelled until the last day of taping, where they were told so "professionally" in a memo to clean out their dressing rooms or things would be thown out. Great way to treat a cast who gave them nine years of service, 29 Emmy nominations, several awards and a guaranteed time slot win.

Anyway, I really would have liked to have seen Harry and Christine end up together. I wasn't too keen on Dan being the one to have followed Christine. I could smack John Larroquette for giving the writers that idea.

i know and have Bull go to Jupiter like that was stupid totally made joke out of his charactor they schould of had Bull move back home r something with his wife or expect child with his wife that wanda chick.Harry n christine end up together.dan marry that rich girl. not sure about Roz, Mac can become a new Judge of night court which would of been intresting.wonder what would happen if there was a 10th seasen

Yeah the season finale sucked when I saw it the first time when it aired and it sucked last night. It was a huge disapointment. I think they could have done a whole lot better, the whole episode was a bad joke.

I think it would have been interesting if Dan were appointed as a Judge. I can't imagine why Dan would all of a sudden develop any feelings for Christine besides lust. WTH?
Bull going to Jupiter with those two dudes? I'm sorry but that was dumb as hell.
Who else knew Mac loved the movie making process? We knew Mac was in a singing group, so why didn't that become his passion instead of film making?

As much as I was jazzed about another season back then, the original 1991 ending they threw out would've been perfect. It had Harry and Christine finally getting married, Roz became a boxer(!), and the best part was Dan becomes a priest! I don't know what kind considering all the commandments he had broken, but it was still a funny idea. I have an old Markie interview from Arsenio Hall saying there was even a 2-hour Night Court tv-movie/finale that was already written.

Unfort. Cleuss and Kreissman said Warner's threw so much money at them for another year they couldn't say no. So if they weren't so motivated by that the show would've ended on a better note. They said they scrambled in June and July for scripts, and came up with the garbage involving the phantom and the insipid Pet Court crap that Dan ends up doing. Mac a filmmaker, Christine for congress, and Harry teaching law school.

The finale, ugh. Only Dan and Christine have life changes and Bull to Jupiter, phhht! What about his wife? He'll be the guy that reaches stuff on the top shelves, idiotic. The writing the final year was UPN level junk. Someone brought a good point that they should've brought back Leon, Buddy, Yakov, Bob and June one last time. They all just disappeared never to be mentioned again.

That was just as bad as the series finale on ALF. WTH did they have Bull going to Jupiter w/ those two dudes?

The finale should of been like this:

Harry touring w/ Mel Torme and/or also end w/ Christine, Bull goes back home to his mother or his wife, Mac and/or Roz, I'm not to sure, but if wanted to speak for Mac, I'd probably have him get a chance to get a flight ticket w/ him and Quon Le and go overseas to meet Quon Les family or something. Dan should be the new judge, considering I find him to be the funniest character on the show.

I thought the last ep was a little lame, too - Bull to Jupiter was a dumb idea, Harry should have been the one to move to DC with/after Christine. Maybe they could have had Harry accept a faculty at a DC law school (Georgetown?) and have Dan mature and become a judge in NYC....or something other than what they wrote.

If the writers wanted to be a little zany, have *Bull* move to DC with Christine...

It wasn't all that good, true...but here are a few good quotes from the first part:

Pamela (to Dan): "...nutcracker. Do you have one?" Dan: "I used to date one."

In watching again just now, Dan to the dikey laywer: "You'd look a lot better if you put on some make up and got rid of your brother's suit" or something. They managed to get one more classic Dan-ism in there among the awful scripts.

But I don't think the ending was written as open-ended. Too many people left for it to go into syndication. I remember the E! Channels' TV TALES talked about syndie "offer", but the cast had the integrity to say no way.

Personally, I didn't and still don't think it seemed open ended at all. I admit, it wasn't the best series finale but it wasn't that bad. The only part I thought was stupid was Bull going to Jupiter..what as that about?!?! Ok, so maybe that's was open-ended but the rest seemed pretty wrapped up to me...
Harry stayed at Night Court becuase he felt he made a difference there.
Roz stayed at Night Court. No reason given, but I really didn't expect her the leave anyway.
As far as Mac's passion for movies, if you watched the whole 9th season you'll see that it was a developing passion. He had planned to go to law school at first but then he found his passion and went for it.
Christine got elected to congress and move to DC.
Dan had an epiphany regarding his treatment of woman over the years. While his realization of being in love with Christine was sudden it's not unheard of, you can fall in love with someone over time and not realize that it's happening and that very well could have happened here. Remember, Dan respected Christine so I wasn't surprised that it happened. I'm happy this happened not only because I prefer Christine with Dan but also because Dan has seen the errors of his way and is continuing to mature.

(Just as a side note: I may be a Dan/Christine advocate now but when Christine first entered the scene I was very much a Harry/Christine fan. I just felt that the chemistry they had faded and that's when I started to like the idea of Christine with Dan. I saw sparks with them, but that's just me. Just wanted to let you all know ;) )

I don't know if it's because I've warmed up to Dan or what, but I feel a bit of jealousy everytime he has a little romance with some other chick...
Which makes me want to write a Mary Sue, which is totally wrong.

* Harry, Dan, Bull, Roz, Christine, and Mac all quit the court room. Harry marries Christine. Dan marries a girl from church. Bull gets a surprise job offer to become a social worker since he likes kids. Roz gets a new job to be a lead guard in a Los Angeles prison. Mac pursues a new movie for his filmography. They all stand in the court room and give each other a group hug for a goodbye.
