I figured this was the best board to put this.
Were there only four episodes of Checkin' In, or were there many others that didn't get aired because of poor ratings? Was there a full season completed for this show?
Was the show canned after only four episodes because of low ratings or was it just bad? Maybe it was a combination of both.
I do remember watching this show because TV Guide had a big huge advertisement for it, but I don't hardly remember it at all.

I am not really sure but I think they made a few episodes and waited to see how those episodes did in the ratings. The ratings were not good, neither were the reviews and so I believe the combination of those factors decided the fate of that show. I didn't like it one bit. It's like the spin-off "Flo" from Alice. You have a great character, but it can't carry a show if the show itself is no good.

I guess Marla's wisecracks couldn't work if the writing was bad then.

There were only 4 eps made and 4 eps aired. Also here is another interesting fact, CBS ended the Jeffersons earlier that season because they wanted everyone to watch Checking In on Thursday Nights. Didn't Work. Seems like it would have made more sense to place Checking in after the Jeffersons on Sunday Night
