Sanford Arms
Grady

Checking In
Ropers
Three's a Crowd

Do you think the only way these spinoffs can be released is for the parent show to be complete on DVD? Like now since Sanford and Son has all seasons on DVD, is there a chance for a Sanford Arms or Grady release on DVD?

I have heard rumors of a Sanford Arms/Grady/Sanford DVD.

Sony oughta put the 4 Checking In episodes on Jeffersons season 7 when the time comes for that DVD.

Well I know that's a false rumor for 2 reasons

1. Sanford was not a S&S spinoff

2. Sanford has too many eps to be combined with two others shows. If anything, Sanford will have a seperate release since it has close to 30 eps.

Grady and Sanford Arms combined had 16 eps

I think they wait for all of the first show to come out. I'm not sure though.

Sanford was a REMAKE not a spinoff. Grady and Sanford Arms were spinoffs because the Grady and aunt Esther character were spinned off.

Bull. It's a spinoff. Just like The Bradys is a spinoff of The Brady Bunch.

Sanford would have never happened if S&S was never made.

barwars listen to me, The Bradys wasn't a spinoff either-lol It was just a New Version of the Original show. Like Sanford. It's only a spinoff if the show premeires while the Original Show is still on the air or just ended. So S&S ended in 77 and Sanford started in 80. Same thing with the Bradys, Am I making sense now?

I don't know how they can be considered spinoffs when it's obvious they are Remakes/New Versions

"Sanford" was more like a "continuation" of S&S than a spinoff, but it is considered a spinoff since the idea for it obviously came from "Sanford and Son".

It's not a continuation because it started 3 years after S&S and it's not a spinoff because redd foxx was on the show. It was a REMAKE

Well a REMAKE would mean they would have REMADE episodes from "Sanford and Son" just like "The New Odd Couple" remade episodes from the original Odd Couple. "Sanford" was a series with all-new original episodes not remakes of Sanford & Son episodes.

If a show was birthed from another show, it's a spinoff. It has nothing to do with how long after the original series that the second show came along.

It's never a spinoff when the MAIN CHARACTER is on the show. It's Either a Continuation or Updated Version of the Original. Sanford was a Updated version of the Original. The main character was on Sanford so it was an NEWER Version. S&S started in 72 and Sanford started in 80. NEW VERSION

So Three's A Crowd was a continuation of Three's Company right?

There you have it Solomon, Websters definition, and if you tell me Websters is wrong, you're crazy.

3. Something derived from an earlier work, such as a television show starring a character who had a popular minor role in another show.

So shows like Sanford Arms and Rhoda and Phyliss and The Tortellis, are examples, while a show like The Golden Palace can also be called a spinoff since it was derived from an earlier work, The Golden Girls.

Haitus??-LOL You are killing me-lol Look barwars, it would have only been a continuation if Sanford started in the 1977-78 season. Like Archie Bunker's Place started in 79-80 season after All in the Family and Three's a Crowd started in 84-85 season after Three's Company. Not a continuation. it was a UPDATED VERSION OF THE ORIGINAL

Webster Dictionary is right but it has nothing to with this discussion. This discussion is about Sanford being a Continaution or Newer Version. Nothing about a spinoff because Fred was in the show which does not make it a spinoff.

I would call SANFORD a SEQUAL if anything. Kind of like a Part 2 if Sanford & Son had been a movie. A lot of time sequals take about 3 years to come about after original.JMO but for anyone who has never seen the show Sanford(1980-81) it is very funny and nice to see Redd Foxx at it again. There are also visits by Grady, Aunt Esther and Rollo. It's a shame this show was cancelled, because it was entertaining to me.

Solomon you have said TWICE in this thread that Saford WAS a continuation and then said at least THREE times that Sanford was NOT a continuation in this very same thread. So which is it? You're starting to confuse me
